WHAT: The Federal Bar North Hollywood celebrates national “Free Comic Book Day” with the first-ever BLASTOFF COMICSFEST!

Knitting Factory Entertainment and Blastoff Comics have teamed up to bring comic book fans an afternoon to remember at Blastoff Comicsfest. Come visit with comic creators from Marvel; Dark Horse; Image; IDW Publishing; DC and more, as they sign comics, giveaway free sketches and meet one-on-one with fans young and old.

Admission to the festival is free. There will also be a beer garden, food stations, live DJ, costumed hero photo ops, and of course, plenty of free comics!

MORE: The various themed vendors include a Superman Booth with comic writer Joe Casey (Adventures of Spiderman, Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes); a Batman Booth with NY Times best-selling novelist Gregg Hurwitz (Batman, Punisher) and actor Todd Stashwick (Fox’s “Gotham”, SyFy’s “Twelve Monkeys”); a Star Trek/ Planet of the Apes/ Doctor Who Booth with comic writers Scott and David Tipton (Star Trek, Doctor Who, Star Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover series), comedian and writer Dana Gould (Fox’s “The Simpsons” and Star Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover series), artist JK Woodward (Star Trek, Doctor Who); a Guardians of The Galaxy/Transformers Booth with designer/animator Tom Perkins (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy animated series, Avengers, Batman, Transformers, Scooby Doo, Green Lantern) and comic writer Mairghread Scott (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Transformers); a Justice League Booth with comic writer Jim Krueger (Justice and Earth X) and artist TBD; a Horror/ Buffy The Vampire Slayer Booth with comic writer Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and artist Megan Levens (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Madame
Frankenstein).

Just down the street, The Laemmle Theater will be screening AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON for its opening weekend. Costumed superheroes (cosplayers) will be handing out free comics and directing the public to the festival.
