TUMBLR PARTNERS WITH AMC, MTV, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY FOR SAN DIEGO COMIC CON PROGRAMMING

Platform to Host Meetup for Viral Podcast “Welcome to Night Vale” on July 11 at 1pm at Basic Pizza

Tumblr is partnering with several media partners for a diverse program at this year’s San Diego Comic Con including the “Ship of the Year” award at this year’s MTV Fandom Awards, AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead” party, and Entertainment Weekly’s Photo + Digital Studio. In addition, Tumblr will host a meetup for the one it’s community’s most prolific fandoms to experience the popular podcast “Welcome to Night Vale” IRL,  which will include a reading with authors Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor and surprise guest appearances from the cast.

“Welcome to Night Vale” Tumblr Meetup
Saturday, July 11, 1:00pm - 4:00 pm (Basic Pizza - 410 10th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101)
Tumblr will host its fourth annual SDCC fandom Tumblr Meetup, this year’s bringing together the fans of “Welcome to Night Vale” -- the twice-monthly podcast in the style of a radio show that broadcasts community updates for the fictional town of Night Vale. The show premiered in 2012 and the fandom quickly exploded on Tumblr with an ever-growing stream of new blogs, fan art, and conspiracy theories. The authors of popular podcast will release a novel this October, and will appear alongside surprise guests from the cast for their Tumblr fans in San Diego. The meetup will include activities that all those who “hail the mighty glow cloud” will understand, like an intern sign-up station, third-eye tattooing, giveaways of custom-WTNV swag, and of course, live readings from the authors. Free, all ages, first come, first serve, no badges necessary.

Fans in San Diego during SDCC can RSVP to the Welcome to Night Vale Tumblr Meetup here: https://wtnvtumblrmeetup.splashthat.com
