THE EVIL DEAD IN CONCERT / LIVE TO FILM:
A HALLOWEEN THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE
at The Theatre at Ace Hotel
Los Angeles, CA – On Tuesday, October 25, the Gothic 1920’s movie palace The Theatre at Ace Hotel will be transformed to celebrate Halloween with the World Premiere of THE EVIL DEAD IN CONCERT / LIVE TO FILM: A HALLOWEEN THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE.
This event, hosted by Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell, will include
LA’s wild Up chamber orchestra performing a re-imagined score of Sam
Raimi’s classic horror film live to picture. This score is written by
the film’s original composer Joseph LoDuca, who will also be a featured
artist. Opening the show will be Harry Potter’s Luna Lovegood, Evanna Lynch, and violinist Lili Haydn, performing the World Premiere of Joseph LoDuca’s The Tell-Tale Heart: A Duet In Terror based on Edgar Allan Poe’s horror classic.
Legend has it that The Theatre at Ace Hotel is haunted by the
spectral remains of singers and musicians from jazz’s Golden Age. These
phantasmagorical artists will be acting as a Greek chorus throughout the
evening.
Co-directing the event are Award-winning Jaime Robledo and Richard
Kraft who was recently the creative director on the highly acclaimed Disney’s The Little Mermaid In Concert at The Hollywood Bowl starring
Sara Bareilles and Rebel Wilson. The show is being produced by Wordless
Music, Laura Engel & Richard Kraft, Spaceland and Allison Abbate.
The Evil Dead has developed an expansive cult following
and has been cited among the greatest horror films of all time, notably
gaining support from horror author Stephen King and leading to sequels,
as well as accompanying video games, comic books and a television
series.

BRUCE CAMPBELL (Host)
In 1979 with his Detroit friends, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, Campbell raised $350,000 for a low-budget film, Evil Dead,
in which he starred and co-executive produced. Completed piecemeal over
four years, the film first gained notoriety in England where it became
the best-selling video of 1983, beating out The Shining. After its
appearance at Cannes, where Stephen King dubbed it “the most ferociously
original horror film of the year,” New Line Cinema stepped forward to
release Evil Dead in the U.S.
Campbell then rejoined his Detroit colleagues to star and co-produce the second and third films in the Evil Dead trilogy, completing 12 years of work on the cult favorite.
This rough-and-tumble background was a plus as Campbell made his
foray into television, first starring in the highly touted Fox series The Adventures Of Brisco County Jr., then as a recurring guest-star on the hit show Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
With these under his belt, Campbell easily made the transition to
director, helming numerous episodes and recurring as the King of Thieves
in the #1 syndicated Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and its follow-up phenomenon, Xena: Warrior Princess.
Bruce has since expanded his range on television, appearing in anything from Disney's update of The Love Bug, to decidedly dramatic turns on the acclaimed series Homicide: Life on the Street and The X-Files. At the invitation of ABC, Campbell ventured into the world of sitcoms with a recurring role on ABC's Emmy-nominated Ellen, participating in one of the three touted “out” episodes.
But Campbell didn't abandon his film roots. During that time, he had featured roles in the blockbuster Congo, John Carpenter's Escape From LA, and the award-winning independent crime drama, Running Time. He followed these up with roles in Paramount's romantic comedy, Serving Sara, Jim Carrey's The Majestic, and all three of Sam Raimi's blockbuster Spider-Man movies.
After a return to episodic television in the swashbuckling series, Jack of All Trades, Campbell took the title role in MGM's cult sleeper Bubba Ho-tep. His directorial debut, Man with the Screaming Brain premiered on the Sci Fi Channel, and Dark Horse Comics published the comic adaptation.
Campbell then directed and starred as himself in My Name is Bruce, a spoof of his B-movie career, then re-teamed with Disney for their fun-filled hit, Sky High.
Campbell has since made the leap into other forms of entertainment, and is enjoying his role as an author with back-to-back New York Times bestsellers: a memoir entitled If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor, and his first novel, Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way.
In the multi-media industry, Bruce has enjoyed voicing characters for Disney’s animated TV series Tarzan and the Warner Brothers feature The Ant Bully. He also portrayed the character of Mayor Shelbourne in the animated hit film Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Recently, Campbell voiced the role of Rod Torque Redline in Cars 2, the sequel to the smash Disney animated feature and for the immensely popular game, Call of Duty.
In 2013, Bruce Co-Produced the hit remake of Evil Dead, joined his filmmaking pal Sam Raimi on Oz, The Great and Powerful, and completed a seven-year run on spy show Burn Notice, USA’s #1 show on cable.
Bruce just completed the second season of the highly touted Ash Vs. Evil Dead TV series on Starz.
Campbell continues to share his acting and filmmaking experiences
by lecturing at universities, including Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon
and Stanford. He currently resides with his wife, Ida Gearon, in Oregon.
JOSEPH LODUCA (Composer & Guest Artist)
Two-time Emmy Award winning composer Joseph LoDuca is best known for his work writing television scores for series including Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Leverage, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and Xena: Warrior Princess. He also scored films who won international recognition such as director Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead Trilogy, Brotherhood of the Wolf – César nominee for Best Score –,Saint Ange and Patagonia –
which was chosen as the 2012 British entry for the Foreign Language
Oscar. His varied career also features operettas, musicals, songwriting
collaborations with pop artist Duffy and operatic baritone Bryn Terfel,
as well as theme songs, which have earned him five of his twelve Emmy
nominations.
EVANNA LYNCH (Narrator)
EVANNA LYNCH currently stars as the title character in MY NAME IS
EMILY, the Simon Fitzmaurice directed independent film for which she
received an IFTA Nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Her
other recent film work includes the co-lead of the independent feature Dynamite
opposite Ian Harding as well as the hit festival movie GBF opposite
Megan Mullally, Rebecca Gayheart and Sasha Pieterse. Lynch was born in
Ireland and grew up reading the Harry Potter books and studying drama at
the Centre for the Talented Youth of Ireland. After attending an open
casting call in London for HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX,
Lynch was cast in the role of Luna Lovegood. Lynch portrayed Luna
Lovegood in all of the subsequent Harry Potter films, earning her praise
amongst critics and fans.
LILI HAYDN (Violin Soloist)
Rolling Stone called her music “fiery and virtuosic...” George Clinton called her "the Jimi Hendrix of the violin."
Lili Haydn has released four critically acclaimed recordings as a
solo artist. Lili (Atlantic Records), Light Blue Sun (BMG Music), Place
Between Places (Nettwerk Music Group), which was a favorite on NPR,
praising it as "A mix of neo-psychedelic flower child and rock star
virtuoso...Heifetz meet Hendrix," and LiliLand, released in
late 2014, with its single, Sea of Gold reaching commercial radio
success. LiliLand was written in the aftermath of a freak chemical
accident resulting in the loss of everything Lili owned. Lili describes
this record as "the jungle of my mind. Fun, fragile, and ferocious
songs about losing everything and getting it back”
In July of 2015, Lili will release a new “Classical Crossover” album titled Evocations,
with Master pianist/composer Bill Goldstein, a completely improvised
work which highlights the duo’s distinct genre bending virtuosity and
ability to create “Instant Composition.”
Lili is also known for her legendary collaborations; she has played
with, sung with, and opened for everyone from Roger Waters, Herbie
Hancock, Sting, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, the Los Angeles
Philharmonic, Josh Groban, Seal, Cyndi Lauper, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan,
and George Clinton's P-Funk All Stars to name a few.
Both as a solo artist and as support, Lili has toured the world and
performed in premiere concert halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Vienna
Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl.
In addition to Lili's extensive recording and touring career,
Lili’s music has been licensed for TV, film, and commercials, and she is
the featured voice and violin on several films with Hans Zimmer
(Pirates of the Caribbean 3 & 4), among many others. Lili is also a
film composer in her own right, with ten feature films to her scoring
credit, and a Film Composing Fellowship to the prestigious Sundance Film
Institute.
A humanitarian and activist, Lili also performs regularly for
various human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and
Human Rights Watch, the Global Security Institute (for whom she recently
performed a concert at the UN). Above all, Lili believes that music
has the power to uplift and heal, and she’s very excited to share her
new music with you.
WILD UP (Chamber Orchestra)
wild Up is an experimental classical ensemble. A flexible band of
Los Angeles musicians committed to creating visceral, thought-provoking
happenings. The group, led by artistic director and conductor
Christopher Rountree, unites around the belief that no music is off
limits, and that a concert space should be as moving as the music heard
in it: small, powerful and unlike anything else. Their projects are
meant to bring people together, defy convention and address the need for
heart-wrenching, mind-bending experiences.
SAM RAIMI (Film Director)
Sam Raimi is an American film director, producer, screenwriter and actor, in particular recognized for creating the cult horror The Evil Dead series, as well as directing the original Spider-Man trilogy and the superhero film Darkman. His most recent work as a director includes 2013's Disney fantasy film Oz the Great and Powerful. Recently, Raimi produced The Possession, and the latest remake of The Evil Dead. He is currently working on a film adaption of the critically acclaimed video game The Last of Us.
JAIME ROBLEDO (Show Co-Director)
Based in LA, Jaime recently wrote and directed live shows for the
grand opening of Shanghai Disneyland earlier this spring. Member of
Sacred Fools Theater Company. Credits there include: Astro Boy and the
God of Comics (Ovation, LADCC, Stage Raw award winner), 2013 LA Weekly
Production of the Year, Stoneface (starring French Stewart), which
transferred to the Pasadena Playhouse, and Watson (LA Weekly Award
Winner; Comedy Direction). Other Credits: World Premieres of Adam
Szymkowicz’s Hearts Like Fists and Bill Robens' Rio Hondo

RICHARD KRAFT (Show Co-Director)
Richard Kraft was a producer of Disney's The Nightmare Before Christmas Live at the Hollywood Bowl and the PBS special Live at Lincoln Center: Danny Elfman's Music From the Films of Tim Burton. Kraft also was the creative director and producer of the highly acclaimed Disney’s The Little Mermaid In Concert at The Hollywood Bowl. He was an Executive Producer of the Grammy nominated Danny Elfman and Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box. Richard
Kraft started his career representing his musical heroes including
Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, George Delerue, John Barry, and Henry
Mancini.
WORDLESS MUSIC (Producer)
Wordless Music Orchestra is the house band of New York City’s
Wordless Music series, which was founded by non-musician Ronen Givony in
2006 and has since presented concerts in museums, churches, nightclubs,
and out of doors, pairing artists from the sound worlds of so-called
classical, electronic, and rock music. Comprising New York’s most
omnivorous young musicians, and members of groups such as Alarm Will
Sound, ACME, and Ensemble Signal, the orchestra presented its first
concerts over two sold-out nights in January 2008 under conductor Brad
Lubman, with the U.S. premiere of Jonny Greenwood’s Popcorn Superhet
Receiver, on a program with music of Gavin Bryars and John Adams.
In 2009, Arvo Pärt’s Symphony No. 4 (“Los Angeles”) had its New
York premiere by the Wordless Music Orchestra under conductor Jeffrey
Milarsky in two concerts at which the orchestra also performed alongside
the Japanese instrumental noise-rock band MONO. These performances with
MONO were recorded and released by Brooklyn’s Temporary Residence label
as Holy Ground: NYC Live with the Wordless Music Orchestra, a limited-edition CD/DVD/LP set. Also in 2009, the orchestra recorded with Tyondai Braxton for Central Market, the
composer’s solo debut on Warp Records, and went on tour the following
year with Braxton to Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Library of
Congress in Washington, D.C., and Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
In 2010, the Wordless Music Orchestra performed alongside the
Hilliard Ensemble and Latvian National Choir as part of Lincoln Center’s
inaugural White Light Festival, in world premiere compositions for
orchestra and voices by Kjartan Sveinsson and Jónsi Birgisson of Sigur
Rós with his partner, Alex Somers; and the following year at the
Guggenheim Museum rotunda in a unique collaboration with visual
artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster for Gavin Bryars’ Sinking of the Titanic.
On September 11, 2011, the Wordless Music Orchestra performed a memorial concert for the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks in the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with the world premiere orchestration of William Basinski’s Disintegration Loop 1.1.
In 2012, the orchestra returned to the Met Museum to play with the
Danish indie-pop band Efterklang; performed the U.S. premiere of
Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson’s The Miners’ Hymns (with
film by Bill Morrison)at the Winter Garden; and played with
songwriter Jherek Bischoff as part of the Ecstatic Music Festival.
In 2013, the orchestra performed a world premiere live score to the film Beasts of the Southern Wild with
the film’s director and composer, Benh Zeitlin and Dan Romer, for an
outdoor audience of 7,000 at Prospect Park in Brooklyn; with the
legendary Kranky ambient duo Stars of the Lid, for the group’s farewell
NYC performance at Brooklyn’s Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help;
with the UK electronic band Goldfrapp for the group’s album release show
at the Beacon Theatre; and with musical icon John Cale for songs from
Cale’s classic album Paris 1919, as part of the BAM Next Wave Festival.
In 2014, the Wordless Music Orchestra performed live with Jonny
Greenwood at the Big Ears festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, and in two
live film score performances to Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood; for
John Schaefer’s New Sounds Live series at the Winter Garden in New
York, in a world-premiere orchestration of Mike Oldfield’s1973 classic, Tubular Bells; and at London’s Barbican Centre for the European premiere of Beasts of the Southern Wild. Also in 2014, the orchestra makes its Australian debut with Max Richter at the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Recital Centre.
In 2015, the orchestra will make its Los Angeles debut with composer/conductor Mica Levi in the US premiere of Under the Skin, and will perform the NYC premiere of Pablo Berger’s Blancanieves — and will reprise its collaboration with Benh Zeitlin and Dan Romer for an encore performance of Beasts of the Southern Wild at Symphony Space in New York, and in New Orleans.
LAURA ENGEL & RICHARD KRAFT (Producers)
Richard Kraft and Laura Engel are the co-owners of Kraft-Engel
Management, one of the world’s leading agencies specializing in
representing film and theater composers including a number of Oscar,
Tony, Emmy, and Grammy winners. Kraft and Engel executive produced the Danny Elfman and Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box which
was nominated for a Grammy Award. Richard Kraft started his career
representing his musical heroes including Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer
Bernstein, George Delerue, John Barry, and Henry Mancini. Laura Engel
started her career working with Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo, first as
tour manager and later as manager. In 2011, she was honored by Variety as
one of the year’s 50 Most Impactful Women in Showbiz. Engel was
previously nominated for a Grammy Award for producing the long form
concert video: Oingo Boingo Farewell: Live From the Universal Amphitheater. Together they have produced Disney's The Nightmare Before Christmas Live at the Hollywood Bowl, the PBS special Live at Lincoln Center: Danny Elfman's Music From the Films of Tim Burton and Disney’s The Little Mermaid In Concert at The Hollywood Bowl.

ALLISON ABBATE (Producer)
Allison Abbate, the BAFTA-Award winning producer of The Iron Giant,
has made her mark in producing and working on some of the most
influential, gothic animated films of the past two decades. She started
her career working on the cult classic The Nightmare Before Christmas, which fostered a long time collaboration with Tim Burton, leading her to produce both Frankenweenie, and The Corpse Bride. In addition to these beloved features, she produced the Oscar nominated film Fantastic Mr. Fox, and served as Executive Producer of Warner Bros’ box office hit The Lego Movie.
JENNY ASHMAN (Singer)
Originally from Alaska, Jenny was last seen as Eva Peron in Opera North's production of Evita and Arista in Disney's The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl. Off-Broadway & Regional: Sleep No More, Johanna in Sweeney Todd (Ovation Award Nom), Rosalind in As You Like It, Penny in Romance Language (World Premiere), Meg in Little Women and Rhoda in A New Brain. JEFFERY HOEPPNER (Jazz Music Arranger)
Jeffrey Hoeppner is an American pop music producer, film/television
composer, and vocalist. In a career spanning just over 15 years,
Hoeppner has written and produced for several artists including Marques
Houston, Omarion, Tevin Campbell, Sugababes, Zendaya & Bella Thorne
(Shake It Up), Ross Lynch & Lauren Murano (Austin & Ally), Dove
Cameron (Liv & Maddie), Jeff Timmons (98º), F(x), Shinee, EXO, and
Darren Chriss. Hoeppner has recently arranged music for “The Little
Mermaid” at the Hollywood Bowl. He has also received Gold and Platinum
records for his work, worldwide. He currently lives in Los Angeles, CA.
EVIL DEAD
The cult classic follows a group of college students vacationing in
an isolated cabin in Tennessee, where they find an
unspeakable evil lurking in the forest. The group unknowingly releases
flesh-possessing demons and spirits leading to brutal chaos.
ACE HOTEL DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES
Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles makes its home in the historic
United Artists building in Downtown LA. Built in 1927 for the maverick
film studio, the ornate theatre and the 14-story Spanish Gothic office
