Review - TMNT Raphael Hikari Vinyl Figure

So at SDCC, we wandered the halls looking for a vendor that sold Funko's Hikari figures. There were exclusives but we just wanted a regular version. So we picked up a TMNT Raphael figure (too bad they didn't have Michelangelo).  We also noticed that the packaging had changed from when they were announced back at Toy Fair where they were going to come in a nice display packaging with LED.

Playmates Toys' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection

Found these at Toys"R"Us last week. If you were kid in the late 80's early 90's then you definitely know what these are. Playmates Toys have re-made these using the same molds as the originals. The packaging is different and it is noted on the top corner that it is the "Classic Collection". The back of the package is different and is not like the original where each character had a bio card.

Of course if they re-released the TMNT, Splinter & Shredder then of course they had to re-release the Turtle Party Wagon.

They are also re-releasing the Original 2004 Vehicle Mechwrekkers. Not sure about these being classic but then again didn't collect these back in 2004.

The Original figures & vehicles from 1988 to the early 90's were definitely something we collected. What's so nostalgic about these being released is that the kids who grew up with these can buy these back after their parents threw/gave them away. It's also great for the next generation of kids to collect and play with some of the "original" versions of what their parents used to play with. The negative side of having these re-released could be from those who actually own the originals either loose or new in package. They're main question is will the value of the 1988 Originals go down because these were re-released?

Do you think Playmates Toys should have re-released these as their "Classic Collection"? For us it's sort of a mixed feeling. (Anyways, gotta do some digging for the old '88 collection.)
