D23 The Ultimate Fan Event Recap

This was our first year back at D23 Ultimate Fan Event in a long time. We went the first 2 years at the Anaheim Convention Center but haven't been back since. The first 2 years the lines to get in was horrible. That was the main reason we didn't return. We wanted to go last year but tickets sold out too fast and this year they had tickets specifically for the exhibit hall which is what we wanted because Mundo Pixar was going to be there. We've been waiting for Mundo Pixar to tour the U.S. The good news is Mundo Pixar will be touring the U.S. soon so really excited about that. What we didn't expect this year was to see so many photo ops and also a stamp card to get blind bag pins when you redeem the stamp cards. They gave out stuff when you're at a photo op. As far as exclusives there wasn't much that we wanted. We easily got what we wanted online after the show. For exclusives, you had to get in a virtual line at 6am within so many miles of Anaheim to secure a spot and then once you score a reservation you show up at the booth. They also had drawings if you were interested in attending panels or getting exclusive giveaways. So no need to wait in line if you were not chosen. That makes it easier. It was not overly crowded with wall to wall people unlike comic con but it probably depends on the day and time. We came, we saw, we conquered and we may be back at the next one in Anaheim.

Little Tikes Sweet Spaces Pop-Up at The Grove

We were invited to the Little Tikes Sweet Spaces Pop-Up at The Grove in LA. We were in the LA area attending another event that weekend so why not. We don't really cover toys for toddlers and such but hey why not? Our inner child would have absolutely loved these! To be a kid again and let our imagination run wild. During our time there, there were some celebs or reality tv stars that were going to be in attendance with their kids. When we were there a few families were at the pop-up. The kids all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Each child got a custom apron which was personalized with their names. So cute! Thanks for the invite Jamie, MGA and Little Tikes.

SDCC 2026 Recap

Another year of SDCC has come and gone in a blink of an eye. The weather was too humid this year on top of the heat. We got pretty much all the exclusives that we wanted. We did as many offsites that we could this year. The one thing that really stood out was that there were hardly any offsite activations behind the convention center this year besides Adult Swim. FX usually has a big presence but this year their spot was empty. There was an official comic con merch booth in their spot as well spots for the AHS ice cream truck and photo op stand. Hulu's Animayhem moved to the MKL Promenade. The space was smaller than previous years so that meant downsizing. It seemed like there were less offsites or that they condensed them all to the other side of the street of the convention center. Lines were still long for most of them. We say this every year that there is tons of people attending the show and thousands more who don't have badges that wait in line for offsites or pop-ups since comic con badges are not required. Inside the exhibit hall it's still a wall of people walking and trying to get from one booth to the next. It requires a lot of patience and we stress A LOT.

Super Troopers 3 Pop-Up at SDCC 2026

Super Troopers 3 had a cool pop-up in the Gaslamp during comic con. There wasn't much of a line when we stopped by. Walked right on in. Free pancakes and coffee. Play some games or do a few activities and then pick up some cool Super Troopers 3 swag. Definitely an underrated offsite experience. Wait times were minimal to no wait. They need a lot more pop-ups like this throughout comic con.

Strawberry Shortcake Purrfect Pets Pawp-Up at Malibu Farms in San Diego

We got invited to attend the Strawberry Shortcake Purrfect Pets Pawp-Up on the last day of comic con. We met The Animal Pad that gave pets a second chance at life to find their furrever home. There were several pups ready to get adopted and meet their furever families. They had a couple of artists doing free caricatures of your pet as well as complimentary food, drinks and various activities. Strawberry Shortcake herself was also there for photo ops. Thank you Shawn and Nina for inviting us!

HBO Max LANTERNS Offsite Activation at SDCC 2026

The LANTERNS Training Headquarters offsite was one of the hardest offsite activation to get a reservation for. It was another awesome immersive experience. You get split into 4 groups and everyone gathers for a debriefing on the training and then each group goes with their trainer to train in various missions. We went thru a dark maze and an escape room type situation and then a leap of faith where one member of our group did a freefall type stunt. After that, we were given our Lantern rings and we took the oath. After that we went to the bar for complimentary drinks. There was also merch being sold as well as photo ops. Check out our video below:

HBO Max Stuart Fails To Save The Universe Offsite Activation at SDCC 2026

One of the most immersive and fun offsite activation at SDCC this year was Stuart Fails To Save The Universe. We got to step inside Stuart's comic shop. Help him with one of his misadventures and leave with some awesome swag and photo ops. Check out our video below:

Interactive Zone at Petco Park & Other Offsite Activations

The Interactive Zone at Petco Park, Marvel Wolverine, Stern Pinball, Alienware, Marvel Rivals, Star Trek Boldly Built, Princess Donut Food Truck, Splatoon Raiders x Brisk, Nintendo Switch 2, Ebenezer, Wildwood and many more. There were so many things to do and so little time. The heat and the humidity this year was brutal and it was not fun being in the sun.

Candy Land Cafe Pop-Up in San Diego

We checked out the Candy Land themed cafe while we were at SDCC. They had themed food and drinks. Also had photo ops and merch. The food was okay. Most people were there for the experience and it was a good time to relax and hang out after a long day at comic con especially with the humidity and heat this year.

Paramount+ The Lodge Offsite Activation at SDCC 2026

Paramount+ The Lodge was back once again this year at SDCC. This has been one of the most popular offsite activation at SDCC for the last several years. Getting reservations ahead of time is extremely hard. Most just wait in the standby line. This year they had a variety of shows represented inside. Avatar: The Last Airbender, South Park, UFC, Star Trek along with photo ops, food, drinks and swag. This year they also implemented a wristband that needed to be scanned when you were served or given any food, drink or swag. A lot of time could be cut down if swag wasn't getting personalized or had to be made and if some immersive stuff didn't take too long to set up and reset after each person if you know what i mean. Always a good time regardless!

Clash of Clans - Clash For The Stache Offsite Activation

Supercell's Clash of Clans - Clash for the Stache Offsite Activation was not a free offsite activation unlike last year's Starr Park which was fantastic. You have to purchase tickets / reserve a time slot to participate. There is no free swag this year besides getting your photo taken after you play. The actor was phenomenal and funny when our group couldn't answer their question or we were too quiet. The decorations and theme throughout the space was so good. This offsite activation will still be open til early September. They have a lot of cool merch so definitely worth going to if you are a fan of Clash of Clans.

Super7 x Peanuts Pop-Up at SDCC 2026

Super7 teamed up with Peanuts at SDCC this year at the Peanuts' regular pop-up store spot. This year was all about Snoopy and his siblings. Everything was exclusive from plush to apparel. The attention to detail when it came to decorating the pop-up was top notch. If you purchased any of the plush, it was the only time you would get the plush that came with an adoption certificate, bandana and a carrier box to take your furry friend home. Super7 has them available online in their store but you only get the plush.

Adult Swim on the Green 2026

Adult Swim on the Green was back for another year of awesomeness at SDCC this year. It was really odd that Adult Swim was the only offsite activation behind the convention center this year. Adult Swim brought in a Rick & Morty ride, mini golf, games etc... along with their nightly panels and screenings. Most days they opened at 1pm except Sunday. Wed was for press/media/vip.

Audible's Level Up Lounge Offsite Activation at SDCC 2026

Audible's Level Up Lounge was a cool offsite activation. There were different stations set up for everyone to participate in and when you tried out each station they gave you a token which you can later redeem for cool merch before you head out. They also had complimentary food and drinks which was surprise bonus and we were not expecting that at all. Finally, there was a photo op to commemorate your visit to the Level Up Lounge.

Nickelodeon's Fun Flows Here Offsite Activation at SDCC 2026

Nickelodeon's Fun Flows Here offsite activation. If you ever wanted to get slimed this was your chance! They also had photo ops, characters roaming around and swag giveaways + more ice cream!

Disney's Percy Jackson and The Olympians Offsite Activation at SDCC 2026

One of the busiest offsites this year was the much anticipated Percy Jackson and The Olympians offsite activation. There are 3 paths that you could choose from which was Percy, Thalia and Annabelle. Once you pick your path you were given a scroll with a wristband of your chosen path. We chose Percy. At the end of the path, we were given a blind bagged pin. There was a photo op at the end as well.

Shout out to the staff who had umbrellas to help shield the sun for people in the line because not only was it hot but it was so humid. Our video was too long to upload here. Check it out on our instagram. In the meantime, check some photos from our path below. If you scroll further down, the cast of Percy stopped by and signed their pillar.

Hulu Animayhem Offsite Activation at SDCC 2026

Hulu Animayhem was in a different location at SDCC this year. With the restricted space there was less things to do but the line was still really long with people waiting early in the morning just to get in when it opened. This year had a few photo ops and themed food as well as free swag which you got to choose between a Futurama or King of the Hill hat. Everything was free but the wait was long in the heat and humidity.

Check out our little video below:

KAYOU Walls of Fandom

We got a booth tour from KAYOU at the Petco Interactive Zone. We picked up a Donutella Tokidoki Exclusive card and Hari & Macci sticker sheet.

Green Day Rocks San Diego Comic-Con with Surprise Performance for New Comedy Film “NIMRODS”

Green Day rocked SDCC with a surprise appearance and performance for their new comedy film NIMRODS. Before they hit the stage there was an ice cream truck giving away free ice cream. It was very much needed as the weather in San Diego was a bit brutal this year with it being humid on top of the heat.

Check out or little video below:

NITRATE GAMES LAUNCHES WITH KEVIN SMITH - LICENSED JAY AND SILENT BOB’S JOINT VENTURE

Independent video game company Nitrate Games enters the realm of digital publishing and niche IP development with the announcement of Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture, an adult cozy farm sim that offers fans an opportunity to engage with and play as filmmaker Kevin Smith’s beloved cult classic characters within the digital realm. The announcement was made during Smith’s annual Saturday night Hall H panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

The game provides a raunchy new take on a cozy farming game – if those crops were akin to Jay and Silent Bob’s specific cultural tastes. Heading toward its beta testing phase of production, the game is expected to be released in late Spring 2027 on Steam/PC.

Players will build, cultivate, and expand their operation, interact with familiar faces, and experience an original story featuring Kevin Smith's iconic characters.

“Since Jay and Silent Bob are the stars of this hilarious growing game, I cannot wait to play with myself! Many thanks to Nitrate Games for taking my little animals to this crossing and making them Stars Dew a Valley!”

Nitrate Games is the brainchild of Daniel Kendrick, Montana Sommese and Nick Madonna. Co-Founder & CEO Kendrick previously ran IDW Entertainment, working on films & games for properties like Locke & Key, Wynonna Earp, 30 Days of Night, Godzilla, Sonic the Hedgehog and 250 other titles. He was the co-executive producer of last year’s breakthrough hit Batman Azteca for Warner Bros. Animation. Sommese, Nitrate’s Co-Founder, has served more than 15 years at the intersection of Hollywood and gaming, specializing in adapting premier IP for the next generation of players and delivering dozens of experiences for industry titans like Warner Bros. and Fox. Serving as Nitrate’s Head of Development, Madonna boasts more than 20 years of experience working on game titles for Saber Interactive, Square Enix & Vivendi Universal. Madonna also runs PHL Collective, a leading licensed entertainment developer delivering award-winning titles for world-class IPs like Star Wars, Justice League and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Nitrate’s creative triumvirate has launched their business by following a philosophy of applying comic book sensibilities and strategies to indie video games, utilizing niche licenses of popular titles and cult classics like Smith’s Jay & Silent Bob and the 1978 surprise hit Attack of Killer Tomatoes. The publisher has been actively acquiring some wildly entertaining titles across licensed and original IP, with more titles to be announced in the near future.

“Our core mission is to make games that we wish existed when we were kids,” says Kendrick. “We’re an independent game publisher with an eye toward creating unexpected takes on unique, beloved properties.”

Chase Marotz, who has worked on such popular titles as Star Trek and Dungeons & Dragons for IDW Publishing, and as Lead Narrative Director for Gameloft’s New York studio, shipped 40+ titles, including collaborations with Marvel, Disney and NBCUniversal, is the creative director on Jay & Silent Bob’s Joint Venture.

Celebrated live-action and animation scribe Ernie Altbacker (Batman: Hush, Justice League Dark) is the game’s writer.

Both Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes have been involved from the start, shepherding the creative vision.

“We set out to build Nitrate Games as the pop culture company of the future,” Kendrick says. “Audiences want to step inside the worlds they love; to emotionally engage with them, change them, break the fourth wall. That's why Montana, Nick and I built Nitrate Games: to be the indie publisher where beloved and new brands become something you don't just watch, but live. Nitrate Games exists for fans hungry for stories and entertainment that transcend formats and platforms.”

Other key members of the Nitrate Games team include:

Deepak Nair (Vice President of Growth & Publishing Strategy), who has helped structure creator ecosystems for some of the world’s largest UGC platforms, including Roblox, Epic Games, and Meta. Nair was the founding Developer Relations lead for Fortnite Creative at Epic Games, a foundational member of Roblox’s DevRel team and most recently drove platform advocacy for Meta Horizon across creator tools, mobile, XR, and monetization.

Jeff Whitlock (Vice President of Digital Marketing & Advertising), who brings more than two decades of digital production and user experience in consumer products, mobile applications, research and creative workshops. Whitlock has unmatched enthusiasm for turning ideas into reality and solving complex business problems with brands such as Adobe, Google, Meta, Nike, Volkswagen, Doritos and HBO.
