Marvel Animated Minimates Series 2.5 Revealed as Series 2 Hits Walgreens!

The Marvel Animated Universe is expanding at Walgreens! With Series 2 of Marvel Animated Minimates shipping to stores now, Diamond Select Toys is ready to officially announce Series 2.5 of the Walgreens-exclusive mini-figure line! The all-new assortment features two-packs from Marvel’s Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man, including Super Heroes, Super Villains and the first-ever Minimates of the Squadron Supreme!
Series 2.5 will include four different two-packs, each containing two 2-inch Minimates mini-figures. The assortment includes:

-          From Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Thor will come packaged with the Squadron Supreme’s Nighthawk. This is the first Minimate of Nighthawk ever made! Thor will include an alternate hair piece and his hammer Mjolnir, and Nighthawk will feature a removable mask.

-          Also from Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Iron Man faces off with the Squadron’s Power Princess. This is the first poseable figure of Power Princess ever made in any toy line! Both characters’ helmets are removable, and Power Princess will include her hammer and an alternate hair piece.

-          From Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man, SHIELD Armor Spider-Man comes with his teammate Power Man! Spider-Man comes with a blaster, and Power Man includes an alternate head with a new facial expression.

-          Also from Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man, the medieval hero Spyder-Knight teams up with Man-Thing, one of SHIELD’s Howling Commandos. These are the first Spyder-Knight and Man-Thing Minimates ever made!

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Minimates

In stores this week is the new Amazing Spider-Man 2 Minimates. This is the 56th series of the Marvel Minimates. There are 4 different 2-Packs.
  • Battle-Damaged Spider-Man dons a fireman's helmet to take on a metallic Electro, with lightning attachments and an energy base
  • Spider-Man battles a grinning Green Goblin using his webline and megaphone accessories
  • Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy with a Spider-Man mask, backpack and phone
  • Electro's boss Alistair Smythe with a briefcase and a pre-Rhino Aleksei Sytsevich with a machine gun and an alternate pantsless pair of legs  
These four two-packs are exclusively available at comic shops and specialty stores, although Toys "R" Us and toysrus.com will receive slightly different versions of the two Spider-Man sets – one with a serious-faced Green Goblin and one with a translucent Electro. Toys "R" Us will also have their own exclusive two-pack, featuring a "Flashback" version of Spider-Man and a pre-accident Max Dillon with briefcase and newspaper.

New Releases Dropping This Week from Diamond Select Toys

DST (Diamond Select Toys) announces that stores will be getting in 3 New Minimates featuring Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (2-pack) , Lost in Space Dr. Smith and B9 Robot (2-pack) & Thundercats Ho! Boxset as well as a Star Trek Silicone Tray this week. Check with your local comic shop to see if they will be getting these.

DST to Open Minimates Headquarters at SDCC

Diamond Select Toys will be opening a Minimates Headquarters at SDCC this year.
"Taste and Thirst on Fourth, the home of some of the best wings in San Diego, will become the headquarters for Minimates fans beginning Friday, July 19th. The Headquarters will open to the public at 11 am, and will be the home of the touring 10th Anniversary Exhibit, with 10 years of Minimates and Minimates artwork on display all weekend. Pick up one of the con-exclusive Shadow Merk Battle Beasts when you visit, and use the coupons available at the DST booth (#2607) to get a discount on food and drinks!

As a special treat for the hardcore Minimate fans, DST will also open the Headquarters to the public at 10 pm on Thursday night! The exhibit will be on display, the DST staff will be on hand to talk shop, and lucky attendees will receive a free exclusive translucent orange “Hot Wings” Merk Minimate while supplies last!

Taste and Thirst on Fourth is located at 715 4th Avenue, and opens at 11:00 on Friday, and 8:00 on Saturday and Sunday."

Diamond Select Toys Announces Schedule of Events for SDCC 2012

Diamond Select Toys just Announced their Schedule of Events for SDCC. That includes what time to stop by their booth for freebies etc... Info via  Art Asylum.
If you’re coming to Comic-Con International in San Diego this year, be sure to stop by the Diamond Select Toys booth (#2607). Yes, there’ll be plenty of exclusive toys on sale, from The Walking Dead, The Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers vs. X-Men and more (see the full list here). And yes, there will be display cases full of new prototypes from their Battle Beasts, Knight Rider and Expendables toy lines. But there will also be a few key events that you can’t afford to miss out on!

Battle Beast Giveaways!
Every morning from Thursday through Sunday, when the doors to the show open, DST will be giving out 200 individually bagged promotional Battle Beasts Minimates, to celebrate the release of the first Battle Beasts Minimates 2-pack and the unveiling of the Series 1 prototypes! They’ll be given out only while supplies last, so make booth 2607 your first stop of the day! And while you’re there, enter to win a custom Battle Beasts guitar and guitar case, by Peavey and Coffin Case!

On Friday, July 13, at 2:00, the writer of the Battle Beasts comic book for IDW, Bobby Curnow, and the artist of issue #1’s incentive and SDCC-exclusive covers, Ulises Farinas, will be signing at the DST booth! There will be free posters given out for them both to sign, and the Comic-Con edition of issue #1 will be available for purchase!

Minimates Panel!
On Saturday at 1:30, in Meeting Room 8, Diamond Select will host a panel, “Minimates Turn 10,” which is all about — you guessed it — Minimates! DSTChuck and DSTZach will answer your questions about everything Minimate-related, from Marvel to Battle Beasts to Thundercats to Universal Monsters! Plus, they’ll show off some new designs, new Calico Jack’s Pirate Raiders animation and give away some free stuff!

And don’t forget that every day DST will open up the Build-A-Minimate booth to their Minimate-buying customers! Any Minimates purchase of $18 will get you a ticket to build your own custom Minimate from the cabinet of parts! Build-A-Minimate hours vary from day to day, so check the booth schedule to see when you can come back and build.
