Save the dates for March 29th-30th for PangeaSeed x Cometdebris' Sametan: Don't Tread On Me Art Exhibition Show at Spoke Art in San Francisco, CA. This is a 2-day show.
"PangeaSeed in collaboration with Tokyo-based vinyl toy designer Cometdebris (Koji Harmon), are pleased to announce our latest shark-saving effort: Sametan – Don’t Tread on Me.

For one weekend only, March 29-30, 2013, at the Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco, we will host a one of a kind art exhibition featuring 30 custom Sametan vinyl figures designed by 30 global artists including Frank Kozik, Buff Monster, Jenn Porreca and many more.

In addition to the art exhibition, PangeaSeed will host an exclusive
screening of Rob Stewart’s (Sharkwater) latest award-winning documentary, “Revolution”. The “Ocean Love Film Festival” will take place at Spoke Art Gallery , March 30, 2013 - 7-9 pm.

Through this unique event we aim to generate greater awareness for the global plight of sharks and the importance of our oceans via creative and entertaining avenues in order to raise critical funding to support PangeaSeed’s ongoing efforts and groundbreaking projects.

Proceeds raised through the sales of the vinyl figures will help fund PangeaSeed’s 2014 “Year of Living Dangerously” art tour of Asia. Because Asia is ground zero for the trade and consumption of many endangered species, the 2014 Asian event will reach six major Asian cities extending our core message to critical audiences.

Event Schedule at the Spoke Art Gallery:

Friday, March 29 - Opening Reception Party 7pm - 11pm. Suggested $5 - $10 donation at the door. Includes one drink and door prize.

PangeaSeed x Spoke Art Gallery's Sink or Swim Show Recap

Back of the Line Waiting to get in
PangeaSeed x Spoke Art Gallery Sink or Swim Benefit Show for the Sharks and the Ocean had their Opening Reception on Friday, September 24th at 6PM. We got into San Francisco on a busy Friday evening a bit before the show opened. Looking for parking we see the line go up the block. People were camped out there early in the day with their fold up chairs etc... We later find out the line was for purchasing Josh Keyes' art print.

We were there to purchase Cometdebris x PangeaSeed's Clear blue Sametan figure which made its debut at this show. If you were lucky enough, Cometdebris had a few up for sale yesterday in his online shop. All proceeds for this figure goes to benefit PangeaSeed. If you missed out, don't worry there will be a color version coming out soon.

Cometdebris' New Figure Sametan to Benefit PangeaSeed

Cometdebris' New figure Sametan to Benefit PangeaSeed. Sametan will debut in San Francisco at PangeaSeed’s Sink or Swim.

The debut release is a crystal clear blue vinyl, unpainted, and limited to 25 pieces. For those unable to attend the event, we will also have a limited number available on the Cometdebris website. Price is $40.

"We are very excited to announce the release of a brand new Cometdebris figure, Sametan (pronounced saw-meh-tahn). Sametan was designed by Koji Harmon, and sculpted by the talented Kiyoka Ikeda. Sametan stands about 11.5cm tall, and willl be made in Japan of high quality soft vinyl.

With reconnected fins, shoes, jeans, and a fancy spade belt buckle, Sametan is here to help spread the word about the plight of sharks worldwide. Did you know sharks are being overfished in many parts of the world, and many shark populations have declined by as much as 90%? Our oceans are dying, and when they die, so do we.

Every Sametan release will benefit PangeaSeed, a grassroots organization based in Tokyo, Japan dedicated to educating and raising international awareness on the plight of sharks and the destruction of their habitat. PangeaSeed is the first organization in Japan to raise public awareness regarding shark conservation and preservation."
