geekEd. (Bringing Geek Back To Higher Education) returns!

This year, at San Diego Comic-Con, geekEd. (Bringing Geek Back To Higher Education) makes it’s triumphant return (this year with data!).  After last year’s highly successful Friday evening panel where 150 college students, higher education and industry professionals gathered to discuss the intersection of college and geek culture, much has transpired.  Once again, join us on Friday the 13th at 8pm in Room 9 as we present research, updates, and further discuss how your geek-ness can work for you in your college education.  This year, we added a geek student for a unique perspective on our panel.  What happens when five college professionals and a college student get together to discuss how college and geek culture intersect?  Come find out on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 8pm in room 9.

8pm-9pm “geekEd. 2” Bringing Geek Back to Higher Education (Now with Data) – The geekEd. Folks are back for another year! Join a panel of college professionals including Alex Belisario (UC Santa Cruz), Alfred Day (St. Mary’s College), Ryan McRae, Tyler Miller (Fresno State), and Emily Sandoval (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo) as they discuss how geek culture and college life can enhance one another.  This year, student Julie Crippen (Fresno State) joins the panel.  Come learn how colleges can reach out to geeks, how geeks can use their identities to increase college success and find out what partnerships are being formed between college and pop culture.  This year, we will be presenting research on college geek students compiled since our last panel at Comic-Con 2011.
