Blox Evolution 2014 Recap

Blox Evolution was held yesterday, July 19th from 1PM - 6PM at Pier 70 in San Francisco, CA. This was probably one of the best (big) car shows that we've been to in a long time. The weather was awesome, plenty of show cars, vendors, food trucks & drinks. There were raffles with proceeds going to charity. Scion was there with freebies.

The launch of figures for The Iron Giant, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Alfred Hitchcock are Mondo's first foray into toy collectibles, with the subjects and diversity of design reflecting Mondo's unique passions. Batman’s uncredited co-creator Bill Finger died 40 years ago and never got to attend San Diego Comic-Con. In celebration of Batman’s 75th anniversary and what would have been Finger’s 100th birthday, Comic-Con International is bringing his only living descendants, special guest Athena Finger and her son Benjamin, to the con for the very first time. Athena will speak on convention panels to share about her grandfather, his work, and the ongoing push to get him the recognition he deserves. A “Credit Bill Finger” Facebook page, presently emphasizing the need for the TV series GOTHAM to acknowledge the man who named Gotham City, is but one of the many ongoing efforts.

Born two years after Bill died and only 15 when her father, Bill’s only son Fred, left this world as well, Athena grew up facing peers and even schoolteachers who thought she was lying about her grandfather’s importance, so she learned to keep quiet about what should have been a wonderful thing to share. Publicly, Bill Finger was thought to have no descendants left until Marc Tyler Nobleman, author of BILL THE BOY WONDER: THE SECRET CO-CREATOR OF BATMAN, discovered her in 2007 while researching his book on Bill. Since then, she has slowly made herself known to comicdom, although without ever attending her first comic-con until BATMAN AND PSYCHOLOGY author Dr. Travis Langley started THE CAPE CREATOR campaign to create a tribute for Bill in time for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Following a successful Kickstarter effort, Athena has followed a journey of discovery, meeting with some of the few people left alive who could tell her more about the grandfather she never knew. Even though she has been without a computer since hers died months ago, she stays active online with a very busy phone. Athena Finger lives in Florida with her son and teaches math at Broward College.

Athena and Benjamin will speak on two panels, meet and greet fans in the autograph area, and make a special appearance at Friday evening’s Bill Finger Awards ceremony.

Kidrobot SDCC 2014 Exclusives

As many of you all know by now, Kidrobot will not have a booth at SDCC this year. They will have a few exclusives at various booths at SDCC. First up, the Nickelodeon Booth #4113 will have the exclusive con colorways of the TMNT 7'' Bebop & Rocksteady.

Pick up the Marvel Rocket Raccoon 7" Vinyl Labbit designed by Frank Kozik and you can purchase it from Frank Kozik (booth #5051) himself and get it signed if you wish.

Be one of the first ones to own The Floral Pleasure Bot. A new re-designed body by Tristan Eaton. The Floral Pleasure Bot will make its first appearance at SDCC and can be picked up at Rotofugi's Booth #5248, Bait's Booth #4949 and the Fugitive Toys Booth #601.

Rotofugi to Debut 64 Colors Original Mini Marshall at SDCC

Rotofugi announced that they will be debuting the Original Mini Marshall at SDCC for $10 each. These will be available after SDCC as well. Pick him up at Booth #5248.

You will also get a free button while supplies last with the purchase of the Original Mini Marshall. You can also purchase these buttons for $1 each.

Rotofugi x Max Toy SDCC 2014 Exclusives

Rotofugi will have a bunch of Max Toy SDCC releases. They will have a bunch of custom figures ranging from $80-390. There will also be a few small hand painted run releases of Maxx Bot, a Micro Negora, a Micro Eyezon and a Mini Mecha Nekoron MK3 that range in price $25-40 each.

Mark Nagata of Max Toys will be signing Thursday at 2pm at Rotofugi's booth #5248. Mark will also have copies of his Kaiju Sketchbook for $11.

Monster Worship's SDCC 2014 Exclusives

Monster Worship will be back at SDCC and this year will be at Lulubell's Booth #5047 on Friday, July 25th from 4-6PM. Pick up a ticket from MW starting at 3:30PM. Limit is 1 figure per design per customer.

All creators signing in our booth offer their autographs for FREE. FREE prints, comics, or posters are provided for most of our signings (while supplies last). You may purchase or bring items to be signed; however, we may restrict the type or number of items to be signed as necessary.

Tournament of Nerds Returns to Comic-Con

Tournament of Nerds is a hit comedy show from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles. The show makes its triumphant return to San Diego Comic-Con this year, with an assist from their new sponsor: funny book publisher The Devastator.

Who would win in a fight, Batman or Wolverine? Superman or Gandalf? Questions like these have plagued humankind for decades. Only Tournament of Nerds can settle these disputes... by pitting two comedians against each other to battle it out in heated debate! Participants include hilarious comedians and cartoonists from Reno 911, Screen Junkies, DC Comics, I-Mockery and Boom! Studios.

At this year's Tournament of Nerds, one lucky audience member will win a 4 book subscription to The Devastator comedy book series for geeks, featuring writers and artists from The Daily Show, The Onion, Adult Swim and Marvel.
