Hello Kitty Con Recap

Hello Kitty Con 2014 was held for the first time ever in Los Angeles, CA at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Hello Kitty Con sold out weeks before the show started. As you probably can imagine, once you stepped inside everything was Hello Kitty'd Out! One of the other perks on getting a ticket to Hello Kitty Con was getting free admission to the Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty Exhibition at the Japanese American National Museum. As long as you showed your Hello Kitty Con badge you were allowed to enter.

We had passes for Friday and promptly picked up our passes and proceed to stand in line to get in which pretty much went almost around the block.

In the above picture was our starting point waiting in line to get into Hello Kitty Con! Well at least we got to see that.

As our line moves we pass these signs and the JANM. We couldn't wait to check out this exhibit! If you haven't gone yet to see it, you should! It's there until April of 2015! We'll have another post fill with our pics from the Hello Kitty Exhibit.

We're almost there!

As you enter you see lines for pretty much everything. The most important thing was probably to get your free Hello Kitty Con Loungfly Backpack. Forgot to mention that many stood in line hours before the show started to get tickets for free (real) tattoos, the Friendship Station Shop (which by the way the wait was 3+ hours and by 1PM the line was closed.) So once we got our bag, we stopped by the Hello Kitty Cafe before the line got too long. Picked up a few things and were on our way to check out the rest of the show.

This is the line outside to get into the Friendship Station Shop. The line continues inside as well.

For the first Hello Kitty Con it was really good. There should've been more workers or volunteer workers directing lines etc... There were literally lines for everything (the shops, Target, Hello Kitty Grab, all the photo ops etc...). If there are more Hello Kitty Cons in the future, they really need to step up their game on how they handle selling their exclusive merchandise. Waiting 3+ hours for the chance to get in and you aren't guaranteed anything pretty much sucks especially if you only have tickets for one day.

One suggestion is having a list printed out and hand them to the people waiting in line. The next one would be to move the line. Have people figure out what they want in line and limit purchases on items that are really limited. They should have extra workers pulling the items to get people in and out. For exclusive Hello Kitty items, there's really no time to let people wander and peruse the shop if you have many people waiting in line to buy things.

Another thing is that there should've been a change machine for the Penny stretcher machine and there should've been more than one machine especially since you have to crank them out yourself.

Below is some of the freebies given out as well as a few exclusive stuff we were able to get from the Hello Kitty Cafe and Super Supermarket!
Hello Kitty Ears/hat, Hello Kitty Stickers from Target (given out to make us in line go away because the line is too long), Yoplait Hello Kitty Yogurt and Hello Kitty Balloon from Party America!
Hello Kitty Bow Shaped Water Bottle

Hello Kitty SPAM Musubi Kit Limited Edition

Our badge, guide book, backpack bag and button.

Hello Kitty's Super Friendship Festival North American Tour in 2015

Only had enough change for 2 out of 4 exclusive Hello Kitty Con Penny designs.

Hopefully we'll see more Hello Kitty Cons in the future and that they can come up with a better way to get lines moving for those that want to purchase their exclusives in the future. Looking forward to Hello Kitty's Super Friendship Festival. Just hope they figure out a better way to sell exclusives at that event.
