D23 On The Road’s Home Alone 35th Anniversary San Francisco

Happy New Year! We are starting off 2026 with our first event coverage of the year. We attended the last stop of D23 On The Road’s Home Alone 35th Anniversary in San Francisco, CA at the AMC Kabuki Theater in Japantown on Saturday, Jan 3, 2026. There were 2 different times for the event which was 11:30am and 3:00pm. After we checked in and got our tickets scanned we received an event credential which was in the shape of an ornament that says Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal and it can be used as an ornament too. As we walked inside, D23 staff members were handing out decorative D23 tote bags which had very useful items inside.

As we walked in through the theater lobby, we were greeted with 2 Home Alone banners featuring The Wet Bandits and Kevin. There was also a photo op which we did not get a picture of since other people were getting their pictures taken. We headed up the stairs to see a line for the concession. Restrooms were close by and the theater room that was used was on it's own side of the building so it's a great place for private events. There was also one more photo op which had a background of the Home Alone house, plane and The Wet Bandits' van.

Holiday Tote bag

Inside the tote bag was Kevin's battle plan & crayons, anniversary pin, kazoo and LED bracelet. More pictures below. The pin glows in the dark. The Kazoo is to be used during the movie when the Kenosha Kickers start playing their music so you can join in with them. The LED bracelet activated when the movie started and changes colors and rhythms throughout the movie. The staff had their own LED props that they used throughout the movie. This was an interactive screening meaning that they wanted everyone that attended to interact and use the items in the tote bag throughout the movie.

Kevin's Battle Plan

Before the movie started, D23 staff members had games on the stage where families and groups can play various games. One of the games was which group could pack 3 suitcases and zip it up with the most items inside within 30 seconds. That was fun to watch! If you weren't participating in the games, they played trivia on the screen as well as fun commercials that families in Home Alone would probably be watching on their TV such as Little Nero's Pizza.

At the end of the event after we headed out of the movie theater, D23 staff members handed out postcards that said Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal! The D23 staff members were friendly and very energetic. This was out first D23 event that we have attended outside of attending the D23 Expo. It was fun and a really different and unique experience. These events are open to all D23 members.
