Perfect Square's Hello Kitty HELLO 40 - A Celebration in 40 Stories

(So busy the past few weeks with traveling for various events etc... and the last of the traveling is done for this year.)

Been trying to find time to check out Perfect Square x Sanrio's Hello Kitty HELLO 40 - A Celebration in 40 Stories (plus one for good luck) book. As you can see from the picture above, this is a hardcover book. The book is approximately 9.25" x 9.25". There are 143 pages and are conveniently numbered starting from inside of the front cover.

Back Cover
There are 40 + 1 stories inside from numerous artists such as David Horvath, Martin Hsu, Chanmen, Debbie Huey etc... Hello Kitty doesn't talk because she doesn't have a mouth. She does show emotion through her expressions. As many of you know before Hello Kitty Con, it was revealed that Hello Kitty is not a cat. She is a little girl. This was a shock to many but with Hello Kitty Con, Exploring the Supercute World of  Hello Kitty Exhibit at JANM and of course the HELLO 40 book to help us understand and know who Hello Kitty really is.

Designer Con 2014 Recap

Designer Con is definitely the best show to attend if you collect designer toys etc... Admission to this show is $5 a day if purchased online or $7 at the door. This year the exhibit hall space grew and they added on a smaller room. The smaller room didn't have the lighting like the bigger area where it's nice and bright but they did get a lot of foot traffic since that is where everyone entered/exited. We've been attending Designer Con since they started and through it's different transformations when the show started as Qeeology then Vinyl Toy Network. We've seen this show grow a lot over the years and this year was by far the biggest it has ever been. This year they also added a Pajama party and anyone with a weekend pass could attend. Unfortunatly, we were not able to attend the party.

This year was extra awesome! There were so many artists there with their own booths such as MAD, Jesse Hernandez, Bigfoot, Bwana Spoons, Le Merde, Martin Ontiveros, Paul Kaiju & Mutant Vinyl Hardcore. We also have to mention that there were quite a few artists/companies that came out from Japan which made this year so much special such as Refreshment Toy / Popsoda, Cometdebris, Goccodo, RealxHead, Skull Toys / 9 Works, Uamou, Touma, Kenth Toy Works, Ukydaydreamer, Punk Drunkers & Blackbook Toy. (sorry if we missed anyone...) We hope that all of the artists/companies from Japan will return next year.

This year we saw quite a few toy prototypes that were being shown from Critical Hit (Skinner), MVH, Paul Kaiju and Toy Art Gallery (TAG). Of course we took pictures!

Finally, out of all the shows that we've attended this year, Designer Con was the best one that we've attended. A huge thank you to Ayleen & Ben who runs and organizes this show.

Below are some of the stuff given out at the show.
Prints On Wood gave out 100 Jeff Soto Prints per day.
Designed by Chris Lee and Made by Button Lab. Pick up each one design at 4 diffferent booths.
ESC Toys Plush given out to the first 200 attendees each day.

We have tons of pictures to share with all of you from DCon. There were a few of us that took pictures throughout both days of the show and took pictures of a lot of the exhibitors that were there. Basically we have slideshows from 2 of our main cameras with a select number of photos from a 3rd camera. In total there are probably 1000 pics or more which is why it has taken us so long to get our pics up. We had to edit the pics etc... and upload them so you can see them on a slideshow instead of us trying to put each picture one by one here which will take quite a while to view this. There are going to be quite a few slideshows so you can choose what you want to see.

Comikaze Expo 2014 Recap

Comikaze this year was bigger and better this year. Lots to see and do. We arrived on Friday, the first day of the convention. Parking was a breeze. Unfortunately this year, we were pressed for time as there were so many events going on within the first 2 weeks of November and unfortunately we don't live in Southern California. If only these events were spread out a bit more.

The show was bigger. If you missed out on seeing Stan Lee's Museum collection the previous years, it was there again this year.

Hot Topic had the main stage and was a major sponsor again this year. They had their own booth with exclusive Funko POP! vinyl figures. Dave & Busters was also there this year for the first time. The video game museum which showcases all the old retro video games were back again.

Right when you walk into the convention lobby, you're greeted with a huge Big Hero 6 Baymax. Disney had a small booth where you could enter to win a Baymax figure and also a spinning wheel where you can win prizes from Big Hero 6.

One of the booths that we had to stop at was the Flophouse booth. They have some amazing products and their packaging is unique and top notch. Currently they have only been selling at conventions but they recently announced that they will open their online store soon.

There were quite a few exhibitors that were similar to Loot Crate. We found Boxychan (themed mystery boxes) and My Geeky Goodies (has either a POP! vinyl figure or a geek/nerd t-shirt). We haven't tried out any other services besides Loot Crate. They are all pretty similar.

If you're in the LA area, it's definitely a show worth going to. Check out some pics we took from the show! Enjoy!

HELLO! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty Exhibition at JANM

One of the perks of going to Hello Kitty Con was that for all those that attended, we were given free admission to the HELLO! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty Exhibition at the Japanese American National Museum (JANM). Even though Hello Kitty Con has come and gone, you can still check out the Hello Kitty Exhibit as it runs through April 26th 2015. Visit janm.org/hellokitty to purchase tickets. Below are pics from the exhibit. Enjoy!

Hello Kitty Con Recap

Hello Kitty Con 2014 was held for the first time ever in Los Angeles, CA at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Hello Kitty Con sold out weeks before the show started. As you probably can imagine, once you stepped inside everything was Hello Kitty'd Out! One of the other perks on getting a ticket to Hello Kitty Con was getting free admission to the Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty Exhibition at the Japanese American National Museum. As long as you showed your Hello Kitty Con badge you were allowed to enter.

We had passes for Friday and promptly picked up our passes and proceed to stand in line to get in which pretty much went almost around the block.

In the above picture was our starting point waiting in line to get into Hello Kitty Con! Well at least we got to see that.

\
As our line moves we pass these signs and the JANM. We couldn't wait to check out this exhibit! If you haven't gone yet to see it, you should! It's there until April of 2015! We'll have another post fill with our pics from the Hello Kitty Exhibit.

Team District 10's 8th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser Car Show Recap

In early October, Team District 10 held their 8th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser Car Show at New Park Mall in the upper levels of the parking garage. There were a lot of cars and good amount of vendors on hand. There was a r/c track and a mini r/c car show where the public gets to vote on who they want to win. Great turnout and the weather was perfect.
