DesignerCon 2017 has come and gone in a blink of an eye. This year was the biggest and most crowded that DCon has ever been. Maybe it was partly due to the holiday weekend but we can say a lot of collectors came out in full force from all over the world to attend and to pick up exclusives from their favorite company or artists.
This was also the last year that DesignerCon will be at the Pasadena Convention Center. DesignerCon has definitely grown and they still had artists & vendors on the waiting list to get a booth even though spaces were already filled. In all the years that we've been attending DesignerCon, it was never this crowded. Even towards the later hours of the show it was jammed packed. We were stuck in Hall C on Saturday shuffling down the aisles. It felt like SDCC.
Vendors and Artists came out from all over the world to sell their exclusives, art etc... For a lot of us in the USA, you only get to see certain companies /artists from other countries once a year at DCon. It's not just about buying exclusives but also the friendships made through collecting and attending events like this.
Next year, DesignerCon will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center for 3 days instead of 2 days. This is a significant change with the show adding on an extra day and a move to Anaheim. DesignerCon has outgrown the Pasadena Convention Center and they need more room to accommodate all the vendors/artists that want a booth.
Make sure to start saving for DesignerCon now as the hotels will be slightly more expensive due to the fact that they are near Disneyland. Also there is an extra day as well to account for. Think of how much you're thinking of spending on exclusives and so forth and then double it lol. There are things that will just show up out of nowhere and impulse buys. If you're into cool art, illustration, unique things, plush, vinyl figures, resin etc... DesignerCon is the place to be!
Anyways, on to the best part. Check out our slideshows below of what you missed at DesignerCon this year!
We'll be back next year in full force and we hope to see you there!
