Oh The Horrors Of Obtaining SDCC Badges!

For the past few years, it's been pretty tough to get tickets for SDCC. Today's chance at getting a Badge was easy for some and down right horrible for many others. Like many, when it hit 9am, we got nothing but a white waiting screen which lasted for an hour and 40 minutes before we called it quits since SDCC posted on twitter that all badges were sold out by then. Some people who tried to get in a couple of minutes past 9am were shown another screen that said the waiting rooms were full and that badges are pretty much sold out.

Like so many others we followed their rules and didn't refresh or we'd lose our place in line but they never mentioned anything about the white blank screen on what we should do. Keep waiting or keep refreshing.  We were stuck in limbo after hitting the registration page to reach the waiting room.

Some people commented on Facebook that they were in the waiting room only to never have their number move up in line. Some people got skipped while people further back in line from them got badges and they didn't. Some got thrown out and could never get back in.

With SDCC as big as it is, they should either put in a better server that can handle the traffic or try different types of badges that separates TV/Movie panels & Comic panels/exhibit floor.

It probably wouldn't have been so bad had someone from CCI Customer Service post something on twitter or facebook that if you see a white (waiting/loading) screen to give up because you're never going to get to the waiting room and badges will be gone by the time you even get in etc... It would've save many from patiently waiting just to hear on twitter that everything is sold out and that we basically just wasted an hour + of our lives hoping we get through.

We all know the CCI staff does the best that they can and try to improve the registration process each year but there still needs to be a better way to make things run smoother to get badges.

Where Ya Been?

If you noticed there haven't been anything new posted up in the past few days. It was a combination of the holidays and everyone here spending time with their families and of course shopping. =)

Also have been fighting a nasty cold since Thanksgiving. Spent the past few days on meds and sleeping to get well. Feeling much better today. Just a little hanging cough left but feeling better than the past few days.

Toys Acquired From the past few weeks!!!

Here's some of our toys that was recently acquired. Many thanks to all the companies we have bought from including, Rotofugi, Super7, Lulubell, Max Toy Co., My Plastic Heart, Double Punch, Monster Worship, Splurrt, Pop Soda, Le Merde and I'm probably forgetting someone but if it wasn't for some of these folks selling/producing awesome toys, our collection wouldn't be where it's at today.

Not everything is shown since some are already displayed and some are still in transit. Will probably get some of these guys a "Review" or perhaps get 'em in " A Closer Look".

Kidrobot Dunny Prices

Kidrobot is releasing their newest series of 3" Dunnys today. Azteca 2 blind box will cost $9.95 each. That's a big jump in price but should we really be surprised? I used to be a big supporter for Kidrobot up until the past couple of years when prices jumped a lot for their Dunnys when quality was sub-par and accessories were either missing or you get the incorrect ones. I understand if the price point is high when production is in low numbers but what I don't get is why a series like this is priced so high.  $250 for a case of blind boxes, I expect a pretty complete set which I highly doubt you will get.

I love blind boxes but when it gets to the point of buying multiple boxes and getting the same one over and over when you eventually have to re-sell it for half the cost you bought it for. It really makes you think and wonder why the f--- am I wasting my money on these when I have to buy multiple cases to get a complete set. I'd rather spend money on something that I can see before I purchase.

I was upset when the Xmas/Holiday Dunny was released. It used to be $9.95 each which was because these would always be limited and sell out instantly. I cringed at the price this past Holiday as the price point was $14.95 each. I'm sure Kidrobot is making a lot more dunnys than they did 3 years ago so with all the price gouging in the past few years have really made me reconsider what I collect. I quit collecting the 8" Dunnys after they started selling for $75 each. Sold off the majority of them and will most likely start selling off the 3" versions next. I was going to keep on collecting the 3" until I saw the price for the Holiday Dunnys and now the Azteca 2.

I guess for Kidrobot, it's all about squeezing every cent out of their fans/supporters/collectors. With the economy the way it is now, you would think maybe they will lower prices instead of raising them. Not everyone is rich and rolling around in money just to throw away. How many people will be buying cases or blind boxes of this latest series? I know some will say well what about their other blind box series like the Simpsons etc... Well those are licensed toys so that's different.

In closing, I was a huge supporter and collector of Kidrobot. I used to go their original store in SF a lot before they did their whole boutique makeover. It was a great atmosphere to be in. A small store with dark wooden floors that creaked and the most friendly staff that made you feel very welcome. Oh those were the days!!!

Buyers who Flake SUCK!!!

That's right! You heard me right. A big F-U to buyers who commit to buying something and back out without any notice until seller contacts you about the item. This is why people don't want to sell on Message Boards and resorts sellers to sell their stuff on Ebay! If you can't pay for the item then don't bother with wasting the seller's time. Show some RESPECT!
