Mezco Joins Forces With Gigantor

Mezco Toyz announced today that they have joined forces with Gigantor. 

"He's made of steel, has a rocket-powered backpack, a pointy nose, eyes that never move, and incredible strength. He is Gigantor, and he is the latest addition to the Mezco Toyz lineup.  

Originally developed as a weapon of war, Gigantor was later reprogrammed to act as a guardian of peace. Gigantor battles crime around the world, and clashes with the many villains who are always trying to steal or undermine the forces of good.

Since his American debut in 1964 he has captured the hearts and minds of every child who wished they could control a giant flying robot to fight evil.

Few characters have a half century of staying power, but Gigantor has proven himself to be bigger, faster, and stronger than the rest. Over the last five decades his popularity has grown exponentially but a dearth of product has left fans ravenous for new merchandise. Now, during his 50^th anniversary in the US, Mezco Toyz will be releasing the Gigantor collectibles fans have been clamoring for.

Our development team was able to borrow an original screen-used prop that was carefully studied and a direct casting was taken to ensure accuracy. When studying the original prop we discovered it was made from lightweight material that looked like metal but was not actually metal. This was for practical purposes and in the on-screen world creates and entirely convincing illusion. However, each Factory Entertainment replica is crafted from actual metal to give it a heavy and suitably regal feel in the off-screen world. Each replica is then finished in a lustrous gold effect metal and has inset reproduction gemstones.

The replica includes a specially designed iron sword motif display stand, the allows the replica to rest on the hilts of 4 swords. A numbered limited edition, each replica includes an individually numbered plaque medallion cast in metal and is presented in a full color box with a certificate of authenticity.

The worldwide production run is limited to 1,500 pieces.
