Furby Is Back! Hasbro Announces The Toy’s Iconic Return With A Fresh New Look

Furby Features Over 600 Responses, Including Phrases, Songs, Lights and More…

So as Furby Would Say in Furbish – "Dah-No-Lah" [Party Time]!

PAWTUCKET, RI – June 2023 – The wait is over… the furb-nomenon that took over the world has returned. Today, Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), a global leader in play, announced that the next era of the cute, cool, and weird Furby interactive toy hits shelves just in time for summer. A new generation of kids can discover their own curious little creature and kindred spirit, that’s sure to be their next BFF. With a history of disrupting pop culture and the toy aisle, Furby reminds kids that they can be their hilarious, wacky, perfectly imperfect selves, because that is what makes them – and the world – a little more special. Furby is available now in two new colors, Purple and Coral, on Amazon and will be at all major retailers starting July 15.

"Following its craze-inducing launch in 1998, Furby has taken the world by storm, impacting every corner of the culture zeitgeist, from music to television and film," said Kristin McKay, vp & general manager, Hasbro fashion & preschool. "For the brand’s 25th anniversary, we wanted to ignite the same excitement for this new generation by harnessing Furby's power of nostalgia while giving Gen Alpha everything they crave.”

This incredibly interactive toy friend features 5 voice activated modes and over 600 responses to discover, including lights, sounds, and 10 unique songs.  Want to speak a secret language that only you and your bestie can understand? Feel like breaking out into a random dance? Need a moment to just pause everything, chill out and recharge? Furby does all of that and so much more. Tell Furby what you want to do with 5 commands – “Dance Party,” “Copy Cat,” “Tell My Fortune,” “Let's Chill,” or “Lightshow” – for an un-fur-gettable time that matches any mood or vibe.

“Over the past few years, we’ve done a lot of research to understand what kids would want to see in a new Furby,” said Kristin McKay. “Through this research, kids told us that it was important for Furby to be their ultimate best friend – a furry companion to do all the things a BFF would do, like dance to music, share fortunes, meditate, mimic each other in silly voices, and even put on a light show, and that’s exactly what we created.”

Furby also responds to hugs, pats, belly tickles, shaking, and feeding of its pretend Pizza Charm, yum! Kids can care for Furby by feeding them, combing their furhawk, and dressing them up with the included clip-on beads and fashion accessories. Don’t forget to comb and style that iconic fur for even more best friend moments. The more playtime with Furby, the more fun they can unlock.

During a time of major digital disruption in the late 90s, Furby instantly became one of the toy world's biggest and most iconic launches, with over 40 million units globally in the first three years. With realistic ear wiggles, iconic expressive eyes, and even its own language called Furbish, Furby was more than just a toy... it was a personality meant to make you believe it was alive. It sparked a collector craze which drove auction prices above retail prices and was even banned from the National Security Agency (NSA) premises in Maryland. Furby was cool, cute, and loveably weird – a combination that kids and the world needed. Over the years, Furby has remained a unique symbol of self-expression for fans across the globe due to the immense and growing fandom that has taken Furby from just a toy to an imaginative brand and lifestyle. Early reads from consumers and retailers on this newest iteration of Furby are very positive and show us that fans are just as excited as we are!

The Nacelle Company Expands Toy Division with Big Bad Battle Caps

In addition to The Nacelle Company’s recent children's toy reveal, Garden Surprise, the Burbank-based diversified media company is excited to introduce Big Bad Battle Caps to their rapidly growing toy and consumer products division. This new toy line captures the spirit of addictive bottle cap games, with a fresh, new, modernized look. Unlike other battle-based products on the market, Big Bad Battle Caps rely on a player’s active involvement, skill, and technique - instead of winning by chance. This announcement comes on the heels of Nacelle Company’s recent revival of the Robo Force line, their announcement of the Legends of Laughter line featuring Joan Rivers, Bill Hicks and Lenny Bruce, as well as Sectaurs and Power Lords action figure lines that are currently in production. In addition to their action figure reveals, Nacelle Company recently introduced Garden Surprise, a children’s garden-themed collectible, with a surprise reveal play pattern that continues beyond the unboxing! DesignerCon 2018 Recap!

DesignerCon has come and gone. Still trying to figure out the best way to sum up this year's DCon besides HUGE lol. As you all know DesignerCon moved from Pasadena to Anaheim this year and the venue which is the Anaheim Convention Center made it possible to expand DesignerCon greatly. A lot of artists and companies that were not able to secure a booth in previous years were able to get one this year. DCon was HUGE this year. There was a lot of space between aisles which also meant a lot of space between the rows of exhibitors. It also meant you can look at both sides of the aisle to view the booth's items and so you have more walking to do lol. Planning which booth to hit up this year was very important as the one problem was there was no aisle numbers or booth numbers so sometimes looking for a certain booth you can get lost and end up somewhere else.

This year they had a few mini art shows within the show. They had a huge dinosaur and Jurassic Park vehicles as part of their Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary Art Show. There was also the Shard Dunny 2 Show which featured custom Shard Dunnys from various artists. There was a lot of things going on within the show. Different artists and companies released exclusive items at certain times each day etc... You really had to be selective as artists and companies are very spread out.

Saturday Morning by Funko was pretty busy starting on VIP night. They sold FunkO's Cereal, Cereal Bowls and T-Shirts. Wasn't sure how it was going to pan out but they had a corner spot and a big area to hold their line. Great booth display and Mike Becker was there throughout the show. You could get his autograph or picture taken. They also had cereal taste testing area.

There were a lot of artists and companies that came out from other countries such as Japan etc... Long lines were formed for companies like Refreshment Toy, RealxHead, Goccodo, Skulltoys, Punk Drunkers etc... each day. Other companies and artists that were back this year was Paul Kaiju, MVH, Splurrt, The Sour Lemon, Clutter, Rampage Toys, Touma, Kidrobot, Super7, Unbox Industries, 1000Toys, Lulubell Toys, Bwana Spoons, Gargamel, Cometdebris, Max Toy Co and many many more.

This year we took a lot of pictures. Normally we use both the iPhone and an actual camera lol but one of our photographers injured their hand prior to DCon which meant holding the camera to take pics was painful and uncomfortable. On the other hand, our handy dandy iPhones which are lightweight came to the rescue and we have about 1800 pictures or so to show you. Here's our link to our DCon 2018 Photo Album. There's definitely too many pictures to post here and since we have less time than usual, we didn't have time to watermark them which is also why we aren't posting them here. One thing we do ask is that if you want a picture to post or re-post elsewhere to contact us for permission or credit us when using them.

We left DCon pretty much poorer than when we arrived. There was so many awesome art and collectibles for sale that whatever we thought was enough $$ to spend this year was clearly not enough. Wanted so many more things but had to pick and choose. It sucks from a collectors standpoint for sure but when you have so many artists and companies bringing so much awesomeness all in one place you need to save as much money as you can. For those planning to attend to DCon next year. Plan ahead and save a lot of money. You're gonna need it.

To sum it all up, DCon was awesome this year! There were some things that they could improve on but overall we didn't encounter any major problems. Looking forward to next year! Enjoy the pictures!

Jada Toys' Metals Die Cast Batman V Superman Toys

Walking the toy aisle at Target one day and we came across some new Batman V Superman toys and what looked really interesting was these Metals Die Cast Figures by Jada Toys. We didn't pick any up that day but took a picture of them and put it on instagram. We wanted to look into these figures more before purchasing them. Looking through the Jada Toys website and following their instagram account to get more info on what these were and how they were not your normal action figure or even designer vinyl figure. These are very different + they are metal die cast stylized figures.

Dream BIG and Back Yuna & Kitty on Kickstarter

With only 4 days left on Dream Big Friends Yuna Doll & Kitty Kickstarter Campaign, they are at 39% of their goal as of this posting.

What we love about this project is that Yuna is more than just a regular toy on the shelf, she's a dreamer and she's more than just makeup and clothes . She has a personality that is like you and I. She is the first Asian American doll to be made. She is also the central character of the Dream Big Friends doll line and if this project gets funded we will see other ethnic groups as well as boys. Yuna is 10 inches tall and very articulated, unlike other dolls where articulation is very limited.

This is the first doll that we have seen that has so much articulation and has endless play capabilities. Boys always gets the cool action figure with lots of articulation and fun play-sets. It's about time that girls get an articulated doll and can pose them while taking them along on fun-filled adventures. Not all girls wants to be princesses or a fashion model.

This is one doll that we would actually buy if we saw it on the store shelf. When it comes to Barbies or other dolls, it's an easy pass. Some dolls are just too scary or creepy. Our household growing up, we never had dolls but we had stuffed animals or other toys. When we were kids, our imagination was endless. We dreamed big all the time but were limited to what was available in the toy industry. We wish this was available to us when we were growing up.

We have the opportunity now to change a little bit of what the Toy Industry has to offer the next generation of kids. We have backed this project and now it's up to you to help back this project or spread the word to anyone and everyone you know.
