On this week's SIDESHOW LIVE (August 30th - 11 am PT), Sideshow concept artist & sculptor Alfred Paredes will be joining us in the studio to speed sculpt LIVE!
Alfred
is a veteran sculptor who works 100% traditionally, bringing his art to
life using wax, clay, foam, resin, silicone, plaster, wood and even
bronze.
Alfred has worked for Special FX notables such as Tom Woodruff Jr., Sandy Collora, and the Chiodo Brothers, and produced private commissions for The Ellen Show, Katie Perry, and many more (including a magnificent 9 foot bronze monument for the city of Arcadia, CA). Alfred is a highly valued member of the Sideshow creative team, and from Carnage to Captain America, he has helped to bring a whole host of amazing characters to life. WHAT IS A SPEED-SCULPT?
Sideshow's artists work in a modern-day Renaissance studio -
combining the latest hi-tech tools with traditional mediums to produce
museum quality statues, figures, and collectibles.
The process behind one of our sculptures is incredibly time-consuming, often taking many months and involving an entire team of designers, sculptors, craftsmen, painters, and specialists.
This live sculpting experience gives viewers a rarely seen insight into the earliest stages of collectible design. These speed sculpts are not unlike sketches in an artist's notebook, as Alfred quickly "fleshes out" his ideas.
These "sketches" often form the initial inspiration for the pose, balance, and character of each figure, and are intended to be simple, fast, and expressive.
