SDCC 2012 Super Magic Funtime Unit @ 5&A Dime
WOW! What can I say, Super Magic Funtime Unit was held at 5&A Dime. This event was put together by Lulubell featuring Grody Shogun, Paul Kaiju, Velocitron & Friends. Grody Shogun & Velocitron made it out from Japan.
The show was awesome and well put together. There were over 100 people at the event and people spilled into the streets. There was food and free drinks (if your of age that is). The only one issue was with the line order thing on how people were supposed to purchase. It was stated that when you got there you would pick your line order out of a hat/container etc... and that would tell you where you'd be in line.
At the last minute, not sure if this was because after all the tickets were picked that more people showed up that they decided to go the raffle route so basically if you had the lower numbers to get in first you were screwed until they called your number. They re-wrote numbers on sheets of paper and threw them in a bag and called out numbers one by one.
That was the only problem. I think they should've just left it the way it was before switching and that everyone who came later would have to wait since the people who picked the numbers out of the hat/container were there on time when the tickets were being picked.
Besides that, it was pretty cool to have a personal shopper help you get the items you want. There was a great selection of Grody, Velocitron, Paul Kaiju goodies. There were also customs by RealxHead, Pico Pico, Itokin Park & Skinner which all were great. Oh yeah and can't forget the yummy monster rice krispie treats that had gummy worms and eyeballs in them lol.
I hope Lulubell decides to do this again next year. The only suggestion is to figure out how they let people in etc...ahead of time and stick to it.
Check out a few pics from the show in the photo album slideshow below.
