Joe Ledbetter's "Innards" Show at Copro Gallery

Joe Ledbetter's "Innards" Show will be held at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica, CA with the Opening Reception on June 11, 2011 from 8-11:30PM. The Show runs through July 2.

"Opening Reception: Saturday June 11, 2011 from 8:00 - 11:30pm
On view June 11 - July 2, 2011

This June, join iconic Los Angeles artist Joe Ledbetter for Innards, the highly-anticipated opening of his new body of work. While most of Ledbetter's previous shows have contained themes or story lines, this show is a departure. Disregarding his past, Ledbetter says he has "erased any self-inflicted boundaries and just let loose." His most fun, colorful and impressive paintings to date are to be expected in this ambitious show.

Ledbetter is excited to return for his 3rd show at Copro gallery. When asked about the title of the show "Innards," he explains: "The goal of the show is to open up my work and ignore any restrictions. The theme of the show is that it is theme-less. I want to reveal what's been living inside me for the past year, and I'm ready to spew my guts all over the gallery."

Open to the public, the reception for "Innards" will take place on Saturday June 11, 2011 from 8 - 11:30pm, and the show will be exhibited until July 2, 2011."

IDW Launches "Crawl To Me" an Original Horror Comic Series This July

This July from IDW Publishing comes a new Original Horror Comic Series called "Crawl To Me". This is a new original horror comic series by Life of Agony bassist Alan Robert.

"CRAWL TO ME takes place in an isolated country town during the frigid winter months. The story centers on a young family as they cope with a series of disturbing events that force them to question their relationship, their faith and their very existence.

"I couldn't have been happier to do
Wire Hangers with Alan," said Chris Ryall, IDW's Chief Creative Officer, "and to see him stretch in different areas here is even more gratifying. This is a dark, psychologically affecting and surprisingly intimate story that I'm happy to foist on an unsuspecting comic-reading public. Put another way, if you survived Wire Hangers with any part of your psyche intact, Crawl to Me should help finish the job."

The story follows husband and wife, Ryan and Jessica. As they move into their first home together, strange things begin to occur. Half-eaten animals and other remains are found inside the basement’s crawl space. Their family dog disappears within the house.  Distant voices are heard from beneath the floorboards. The couple begins to think that an evil entity is living inside their walls. Nothing can prepare them for what they’ll discover, but Ryan and Jessica soon realize that they must set aside all they believe to be true, in order to face their inevitable reality.

CRAWL TO ME
boasts three unique covers per issue featuring cover art by Robert, Silent Hill: Past Life painter, Menton J. Matthews III and UK illustrator, David Lupton. Visit the official website, at crawltomecomic.com.

“All my life, I’ve been told that I have a warped and twisted imagination. So, with these horror stories, I’m finally putting my morbid thoughts to good use,” says Robert. “When Wire Hangers was received so well by comic and horror fans last year, it really inspired me to continue creating stories in the medium. With Crawl to Me, I wanted to go even darker, but, don’t be fooled. This is not your typical, run-of-the-mill, haunted house story. It’s more of a thriller, filled with a ton of demented mind-games that will keep you guessing. Think of it like a Twilight Zone episode on steroids.”

CRAWL TO ME #1 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) will be available in stores in July.

Alternative Press Expo (APE) Announces Special Guests for 2011

APE has been a great place to check out new artists, indie labels and has expanded every year with more and more attendees. Some of the Special Guests who have already signed up for 2011 includes Kate Beaton, Daniel Clowes, Craig Thompson, Adrian Tomine, & Shannon Wheeler.

More info below:

"San Francisco – Coming off its biggest year yet in 2010 with attendance topping 5,500, the Alternative Press Expo (APE), returns to San Francisco this fall at The Concourse Exhibition Center. The Expo, taking place Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2, will again feature the expanded Exhibit Hall and additional programming tracks that debuted in 2010.

Five special guests have already signed on for the show: Kate Beaton (Hark! A Vagrant!), Daniel Clowes (Wilson, Mister Wonderful; courtesy Drawn & Quarterly), Craig Thompson (Blankets, Habibi), Adrian Tomine (Optic Nerve, Scenes from an Impending Marriage), and Shannon Wheeler (Too Much Coffee Man, I Thought You Would Be Funnier).

“Interest in APE has never been higher as evidenced by our growing attendance and roster of exhibitors,” said David Glanzer, APE’s director of marketing and public relations. “This year’s terrific mix of special guests really helps us continue that momentum as one of the ‘must-see’ independent comics shows in the nation.”

APE showcases the best in alternative and small press comics, with an Exhibit Hall packed with cutting-edge creators featuring their comics, books, zines, original art, hand-made items, and much more. Further details on APE 2011, including a complete list of exhibitors and the full programming schedule, will be announced closer to the event. "

This is just the start of many APE 2011 announcements. Check out APE's website for more info.
