APE 2013

APE 2013 took place this weekend at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco, CA. This is the last year that APE will be at the Concourse. The Concourse has been home to APE for 10 years. Next year APE will move back to the Fort Mason Center on October 4-5, 2014.

This year is APE's 20th Anniversary! This year there was over 400 exhibitors in attendance such as Super7, Baby Tattoo Books, SLG etc... APE specializes in Indie Comic Publishers, Indie Artists, DIY Creators etc... which makes them all the focus where they would usually get lost or looked over at bigger shows such as SDCC.

Here's some of the stuff we picked up!
Picked up a cool Halloween themed Simpsons print/poster from Chris Weiermiller who is a local artist/illustrator from SF, CA. Also picked up a cool Mewwwwwni T-Shirt from Ben Seto. Also picked up a few Beavers from Jeff Pidgeon.

The last pickup was a very cool resin Finger Crab by The Chung! aka David Chung. Really love the packaging which is a minature Bamboo type steamer. This version is limited to 10 pieces and was an APE Exclusive.

As we exited APE, Geico hired some planes to post some advertising in the sky over the area around the Concourse. We had a great time as usual checking out all the artwork, comics, toys etc... Farewell Concourse Exhibition Center! See you next year at the Fort Mason Center!

The Loyal Subjects x Joe Ledbetter revealed that they will be releasing the Chaos Bunnies as Mini figures. They have been teasing us with images and a video. Joe revealed today that one of them is the Cactus Bunny which you see in the pic above. Would definitely like to pick this series up since they are smaller than the previous Chaos Bunnies Releases.
The teaser image above was just released by Joe. Any guesses as to which bunny it is?

Preview Paul Kaiju's Get a Life Gobocon! Mini Figure Series

Preview Paul Kaiju's upcoming mini figure series called Get a Life Gobocon! Series 1 in wax From left to right the figures are Gobocon, Cat Girl, Chuto & Machinegun Ghost.

Gobocon is a zombie robot from the future who requires Goboroot for fuel.
Cat Girl is moderator of all times.
Chuto is a post "great war" friend and confidant of Gobocon, from further in the future than Gobocon!
Machinegun Ghost is a gangster monster from the earth past.

Paul's inspiration for this mini figure set was a rare Rockbat Mini Set from the collection of Warren Schwartz in the pic above.
Quote from PK- "I though it would be cool to combine 70's Tokusatsu shows such as ROBOCON and ROCKBAT with something part "Terminator" and part early "Outer Limits" combined with these cute Tokusatsu shows, including "off" elements from across time, and this is what came out of the sculpt session.
A total love letter to Tokustatsu of Japan and the bottomless pit that got me here in the first place.
The island they inhabit, is surely nuts. I can't wait to come up with more."
Love it when artists shares their inspiration(s) for a project and can't wait for these to be released. These are scheduled to be released in 2014.
