Silicon Valley Comic Con 2017 Recap

Silicon Valley Comic Con 2017 was bigger and better this year! The show expanded into other buildings and areas around the San Jose Convention Center on April 21-23. SVCC is now the largest Comic-Con show in Northern California. What makes SVCC different than other shows is that they merge Technology & Science with Pop Culture. So, even though you're enjoying coplayers, picking up that collectible etc... you can also go there to learn. This is a great show for families. This year they had a Science Fair, a Kids STEAM Lab and NASA had a huge presence inside the exhibit hall with massive planets hanging over their booth and even get your picture taken inside an astronaut's spacesuit.

Friday was the start of SVCC and the show didn't start until 5pm. Saturday was the first full day of the show and it started with an opening speech from Steve Wozniak who was introduced to the crowd by Pepper the Robot and followed up later by R2-D2 and other Droids. Some pictures below in our slideshow.

Next we have pictures from inside the exhibit hall as well as the Kids' STEAM Lab, Adam Savage's Cosplay Workshop and Lounge & The Game Zone.
.

Next is the Screen Used Auction items that were being shown at SVCC. You could bid on items starting on Sunday of the show at Noon. There were some really nice items from various movies and shows. Check out some of the pics from the Auction Exhibit below.

Next is the various pictures from the Outdoor Festival and other outside pictures. The Outdoor Festival was new this year and parts of the streets around Plaza De Cesar Chavez was closed off to vehicles. There were a lot of Food Trucks and BEER. There was the main stage where they had movie viewings later on in the evening. They also held the Dog Coplay Contest there as well as a Science Fair. Facebook and Playstation 4 was also there. The Outdoor Festival was free to the public.
.

The next slideshow below features the Rover.com Dog Cosplay Contest. There were 12 finalists and the winners were the dogs cosplaying as Toothless (1st place), Dewback (2nd Place) and The Flash (3rd Place).

Finally we have a few Cosplay pictures below. We do have a few other Cosplay pictures on our instagram.

For more pictures, check out our instagram as we posted a lot of pictures there as well. We'll still editing pictures and gathering them all from our team as we all used different cameras throughout the event.

We would like to thank Steve Wozniak and the SVCC Team for putting together this awesome show! We have 2 suggestions, expand show hours on Friday of the show and give more notice /information for the Dog Cosplayer Contest. Northern California now has a huge Comic-Con show and we can't wait to see how big next year's show will be!
