Super7 Mission Store Grand Opening Recap

We made it to Super7's Mission Store Grand Opening this past Friday evening. The layout of the store was very nice and different compared to their store on Haight St. They had their Star Wars and MOTU wallpaper on their walls along with various vintage movie posters, skateboard decks etc... What makes this store different than the one on Haight St. is that the Mission store will carry only Super7 products.

Subtext Gallery presents Memories of Tomorrow featuring New Works by Brian Flynn.
Opening Reception with the Artist: Friday, September 12th, 6-10pm
Brian Flynn is the coolest nerd you’ll ever meet. He grew up in Texas as a self-proclaimed Star Wars freak that was inspired by skateboarding, punk rock, action figures, robots and spacemen. He now calls San Francisco home and keeps himself busy as the creative director and co-founder of Hybrid Design. Over the years he has built a stellar client list including Nike, Apple, TED, Levi’s, Starwood Hotels, Lucasfilm, Juxtapoz Magazine and more. He is also the driving force behind the Super7 store, a retail brand he created to sell limited edition toys, apparel and publications that celebrate Flynn’s fascination with vintage Kaiju. Brian has participated in many group shows with Subtext over the years, and Memories of Tomorrow marks his second solo exhibition with our gallery.

The Monster Family extends its arms (and wooden club) to Joshua Herbolsheimer’s CAVEMAN DINOSAUR! A hefty chunk of textured green vinyl forms the base of the CMD, with tan and brown sprays covering his over-the-shoulder loincloth. His spiked head is sprayed with dark green gradations, yellow fangs protrude from a blood-red open mouth, and his eyes are handsomely detailed with white and blue reflections.

Start each day with a roar by adding the CAVEMAN DINOSAUR to your toy shelf! This Limited Edition figure stands 4 inches tall and is articulated at the waist - get yours before he goes extinct!"

TR!CKST3R Symposia 2: Art in the 3rd Dimension: Design, Manufacture, and Distribution of Your Creator-Owned Toy

TR!CKST3R will be back during SDCC this year at the Tavern Bowl. This year they will have various Symposia during the course of SDCC. The ones that stand out to us is Symposia 2: Art in the 3rd Dimension: Design, Manufacture & Distribution of Your Creator-Owned Toy. Symposia 2 info below:
Maybe you’re a toy fanatic wanting to take the next logical step, or maybe you have a comic character that you’d like to share with your fans in a new way. You’ve heard of plenty of artists who produce their own toys. But you don’t have their contacts – where do you begin?
Turning your artwork into a three-dimensional, manufactured figure is a lengthy but rewarding process. Learn from experience how to work with sculptors, designers, and prototype developers to develop a toy of your very own. Through the process, you’ll think of your character in completely different ways as you wrestle with the limits of manufacturing technologies, the spectrum of production methods, factory minimums, and your own finances. It’s challenging, but it is possible. Meet our panel of toymakers and find out how close you are to… the third dimension!

Join a cadre of today’s top storytellers in this unique 2-hour discussion workshop designed to bolster the craft of creating unique characters from the ground up.
Participating storytellers include JEFF PIDGEON (Happy Beaver, TR!CKSTER FOX, Pidgeon Toys), BRIAN FLYNN (Hybrid Design, Super7), DAVE PRESSLER (Robot and Monster), KLIM KOZINEVICH (Bigshot Toyworks), DOV KELEMER (DKE Toys), SCOTT MORSE (Strange Science Fantasy), and more to be announced shortly!
FRIDAY, July 19, 2013
10:00 AM -12:00 PM
Each Symposia will cost $40. Limited to 25. You can buy your tickets HERE. They also just added a Deluxe Ticket where you will also receive an exclusive TR!CKST3R Artic Fox Toy. This ticket will cost you $80. Unfortunately there is also an added service fee charged to the tickets by the ticket company they are using.
