10TH ANNUAL HER UNIVERSE FASHION SHOW TO CELEBRATE MATTEL AND DECADES OF FASHION INNOVATION AND GEEK COUTURE AT SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON

 

The iconic 10th annual Her Universe Fashion Show, presented by Her Universe and Mattel, today announced the 2024 show theme will celebrate decades of fashion, innovation, and geek couture as Mattel approaches its 80th anniversary. This year’s show at San Diego Comic-Con, held Thursday, July 25 beginning at 6 pm, will also honor other legendary Mattel brands including Hot Wheels, UNO and Magic 8 Ball through an incredible lineup of fashion and giveaways. 

Mattel will bring the lobby to life creating a vibrant showcase celebrating 35 years of Polly Pocket, highlighting nostalgic fashions across three plus decades. Guests can expect an immersive experience, filled with nostalgic charm, innovative displays and photo opportunities that pay homage to Polly Pocket whose legacy continues to make the ordinary extraordinary.

To commemorate a decade of unforgettable shows, host and Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein  (voice of Ahsoka, Star Wars & Founder, Her Universe), and co-host Michael James Scott (Broadway star, Aladdin, The Book of Mormon, Something Rotten), will lead an evening dedicated to Mattel’s nearly 80 years of innovation and imagination. 

From the moment the lights go down, audiences will be enthralled by Ashley Eckstein’s cutting edge couture look, certain to make headlines as she does every year with her one-of-a-kind reveal. The dynamic hosting duo will then shine a spotlight on geek couture fashion, promising unforgettable surprises you won’t want to miss. As previously announced, award-winning director Jeremy Merrifield will direct the show. 

Since 2014, the Her Universe Fashion Show has captivated fans with the creativity of talented designers who have worked tirelessly to showcase one-of-a-kind custom geek couture looks on the runway. This year's ultimate prize will again be the opportunity for two of the 25 participants to design a special fashion collection with Her Universe. The audience will choose one winner, along with a winner selected by an expert panel of judges, including the 2023 Her Universe Fashion Show winning designers Rachel Petterson and Raeven K; Robin Motts, SVP Hot Topic Merchandising; Vivienne Medrano, Creator of Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss; and VP of Barbie Product Design at Mattel, Robert Best.

MATTEL RETURNS TO SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2023

Mattel, Inc. announced today its return to San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) from July 19 to July 23! The brand’s presence at the epicenter of pop culture will include panels, special guest appearances, product showcases and more at Booths #3029 and #2945. In celebration of fan-favorite properties, activities will spotlight Masters of the Universe, Hot Wheels, Monster High, WWE, , Jurassic Park and more, bringing exclusive experiences directly to fans. 

Kicking off the SDCC celebration on July 10, Mattel Creations will offer special edition drops during their celebrated “12 Days of Fandom” event. The fan-first celebration of all things Mattel will unveil the latest collectibles from a variety of iconic properties. From now until July 16, badged SDCC participants will be able to apply for access to the official Comic-Con 2023 Exclusives Portal to gain access to products at the show as well as the below fan experiences. MATTEL at SDCC 2022

Mattel announces their plans for SDCC 2022. Mattel always has a huge presence at SDCC. It's been a long 2 years. First up they will open up their vault for "12 Days of Fandom" offering fans exclusive, must have collections from fan-favorite properties leading up to SDCC. Set your calendars for July 11th.

Masters Of The Universe Diamond Ray Of Disappearance Limited Edition Prop Replica

Factory Entertainment's design team, working with Mattel, wanted to create a real-world interpretation of this important 'McGuffin' that would bridge the realms of fantasy and reality. The Factory Entertainment team spent many hours studying the vintage animation, and drew inspiration from both the 1983 and 2002 series, as well as the cover art of the 2001 commemorative VHS release. This replica has been designed to capture all the iterations as a singular blended execution.

The box was first sculpted as a 3D model. Taking inspiration from ancient ossuary boxes, fine details where then added by hand to give the appearance of age and wear. It features mystical engraved script and is cast from polystone.

The stone itself is supported on an industrial-looking cradle that houses an LED lighting effect. This effect is triggered by a hidden sensor when the box is opened, lighting the diamond from beneath.

A round-cut diamond shape was chosen to maximize the sparkle when the LED light shines through its many facets. The stone is high pressure cast in acrylic.

Every replica is supplied in a full color collector box and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Jurassic World Brings Toy Dinosaurs to Life In Stunning Photo Series

Check out this new collaborative photo series from Jurassic World and Paraguayan professional photographer Jorge Saenz - best known for his viral #DinoDinaSeries that inserts toy dinosaurs from his childhood into stunning landscape photos.

For the series, the Jurassic team partnered with Jorge for a new twist on his series that bring the franchise's prehistoric creatures to life in a variety of nature and urban settings - manipulating perspective so it appears as though toy versions of T-Rex, Blue, and more are roaming modern-day Earth.

Captured on an iPhone and giving a nod to the final scene of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Saenz and Jurassic World will roll out the new weekly photo series titled, #DinosinOurWorld, beginning October 19th and continuing every Friday through 12/14 on Jurassic World's official instagram account.
