LAIKA LIVE! San Diego

LAIKA LIVE San Diego was held during SDCC and we were lucky to get into the Media Event on Preview Night during SDCC. The media event let us in to check out the exhibit inside and there was food and drinks offered to us as well. We got to check out the merchandise and of course a piece of the set of the new movie Missing Link which is scheduled to hit theaters in the Spring of 2019. We also got to meet Mr. Link himself waiting for us to get our pictures taken with him. The lines were long every day for this and it is well worth the wait if you love LAIKA and Stop Motion Animation. Check out our pictures below.

The LAIKA Experience at SDCC 2017

The LAIKA Experience was one of the things we really wanted to see. With everything at SDCC, this was a 3-Hour wait and we were there early too. At least it wasn't an 8+ hour wait. This was the last day of SDCC and was a must see before we left San Diego.

If you ever get the chance to see the LAIKA Experience in your city or state, we highly recommend it, especially if you've wondered how Stop-Motion Animation is made. The sets to make these animated movies are so detailed and intricate. Just jaw dropping!

Aardman's Early Man Teaser Trailer

If you are fan of Wallace & Gromit, you will love this movie! It's filled with the same humor as Wallace & Gromit... all from the brilliant minds of Aardman and Nick Park. We are obviously huge fans of Wallace & Gromit & Nick Park and absolutely loved this trailer that was recently released. The bad part is we still have to wait until January 2018 before it gets released in theaters.

CALLIOPE: Stop Motion Animated Short Film on Kickstarter

This is a really awesome project to back on Kickstarter! Stop Motion Animation is very time consuming  and takes a long time to complete a film. Circus Posterus (Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters) just launched their Kickstarter Campaign HERE. They have a lot of awesome rewards.

"The goal of this Kickstarter project is to raise enough capital to help produce and finance Calliope as an 8-10 minute (feature production quality level) stop-frame short film and to produce it within 15 months (starting after the conclusion of this successful campaign) including its incentives."

Aardman x Nick Park's Early Man First-Look Poster Revealed at Cannes Film Festival

Aardman x Lionsgate to released the Shaun the Sheep Movie in the USA on August 7th! Check out the official trailer above! If you love Wallace & Gromit or Chicken Run this is must see movie. Love their stop-motion animation and their sense of humor! Can't wait!

Universal Monsters Action Figures Stop Motion Animated Short Film

 
Diamond Select Toys sent us over their First ever Universal Monsters Action Figures Stop Motion Animated Short Film title "Trick or Treat".

"Trick or Treat" was animated by Alex Kropinak, the animator behind Marvel.com's "What The...?!" Using a combination of stop-motion photography and computer graphics, Kropinak brought to life the actual action figures, sculpted by Gabriel Marquez, Rudy Garcia and Jean St. Jean. The film's cast includes the Mummy, the Wolfman, Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein's Monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula and the Metaluna Mutant.

Kropinak even included a cameo appearance by Diamond Select's first-ever  original concept action figure, Van Helsing. Designed by DST President Chuck Terceira and sculptor Jean St. Jean, the famous monster hunter received his own 7-inch scale figure this year, which was released at the same time as the newest Universal Monsters assortment. The film was co-written by Kropinak and DST Marketing Supervisor Zach Oat, who previously collaborated on ToyFare magazine's Twisted ToyFare Theatre.

From producers Luc Besson and Virginie Silla-Besson, Jack And The Cuckoo-Clock Heart is a visual feast like you've never seen before. It's filled with fabulous steampunk inventions, enchanting music, and characters you'll never forget.

Circus Posterus Films' Calliope Set Model at SDCC

At the Cardboard Spaceship Booth, they had one of the set model from Circus Posterus Films' "Calliope" Stop Motion Short. This was pretty cool to see!

Build Your Own Boxtrolls Contest

The Boxtrolls is a new stop-motion animated movie that will hit theaters in September 2014. The Boxtrolls is by Focus Features and LAIKA. They brought us Paranorman and Coraline.

In anticipation of the movie coming out, Focus Features & LAIKA is inviting you to build your own Boxtroll and you can enter your creation in their contest. One Grand prize winner's Boxtroll will be brough to life as a real puppet by LAIKA artists and there will also be prizes for 10 First Runner Ups & 15 Second Runner Ups.
