CBS’S “GHOSTS” MAKES SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON ITS HAUNTING GROUND

CBS Original GHOSTS, television’s number one new series and the number one comedy on Paramount+, will make its San Diego Comic-Con debut for a panel discussion, a marketing activation and a Web3 Metaverse experience.

Paramount+ will bring a mountain of entertainment to this year’s San Diego Comic-Con with a weekend filled with unforgettable panels from fan-favorite series and franchises, featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes conversations and reveals. 

The mountain of entertainment continues with a “Star Trek”-themed activation and immersive experience, a Beavis and Butt-Head photo opportunity, and a chance to step inside the iconic Paramount Mountain at the official Paramount+ booth. The celebrations kick-off on Thursday, July 21 and go through Sunday, July 24.

“STAR TREK” RETURNS TO SAN DIEGO!  

• “Star Trek” Universe Panel in Hall H. The fan-favorite “Star Trek” universe panel returns to San Diego Comic-Con, featuring exclusive back-to-back conversations with the casts and executive producers from STAR TREK: PICARD, STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS and STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS as they discuss the latest seasons of their hit series and tease what's ahead, along with a few reveals and surprises. Moderated by actress and STAR TREK: PICARD season two director, Lea Thompson (“Back to the Future”).

STAR TREK: PICARD cast members scheduled to appear include Patrick Stewart and Gates McFadden, alongside executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Rod Roddenberry.

STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS will feature voice cast members Jack Quaid, Tawny Newsome, Noël Wells and Dawnn Lewis and creator and executive producer Mike McMahan, executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Rod Roddenberry.

STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS will have its Hall H debut with cast members Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding and the latest addition to the cast, Paul Wesley, along with executive producers Henry Alonso Myers, Alex Kurtzman and Rod Roddenberry. Nickelodeon will invite fans to dive into an immersive experience at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2022, showcasing the depths of Bikini Bottom, imaginations of babies, a new generation of Transformers robots, the hallways of Monster High, the elements of Avatar and more. Headquartered at its 1,800 square-foot booth (#4113) on the convention center floor, Nickelodeon will celebrate fan-favorite characters and shows with one-of-a-kind panels, talent signings, activations, exclusive products and interactive design elements featuring: SpongeBob Universe (SpongeBob SquarePants and its two original spinoff series, The Patrick Star Show and the Paramount+ Original series, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years), the Paramount+ Original series Rugrats and Transformers: EarthSpark, plus Monster High: The Movie, Avatar: The Last Airbender and more.

 

Every day of the convention, Nickelodeon’s booth will feature: a 16-foot-tall Bumblebee of Transformers: EarthSpark photo opportunity and AR experience; an immersive Monster High: The Movie activation, where fans can compete against the clock to match objects to lockers; an 8-foot-long underwater television from The Patrick Star Show that fans can step inside; a Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years photo opportunity; a Rugrats photo opportunity; an Avatar: The Last Airbender-themed retail area featuring a custom t-shirt station and one-of-a-kind, exclusive collectibles; costumed-character appearances; and autograph signings with the voice casts and producers from SpongeBob Universe, Rugrats, Transformers: EarthSpark and Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast.

Nickelodeon will present four panels: Nickelodeon’s Rugrats: The Babies are Back!, an exclusive look at the all-new series; SpongeBob SquarePants: Dive into SpongeBob Universe!, a deep dive into the iconic franchise; Introducing Transformers: EarthSpark!, an insider event that celebrates a new take on the global franchise; and Avatar: Braving the Elements – LIVE!, a behind-the-scenes look at how Avatar was brought to life.

AMC Returns to SDCC

AMC NETWORKS RETURNS TO SAN DIEGO WITH SERIES PANELS,

AMC Networks announced today its lineup of panels and events at this year’s Comic-Con International, which runs from July 21 to July 24 in San Diego, CA, including the final series panel for the cultural phenomenon The Walking Dead ahead of its must-see last eight episodes this fall; the Comic-Con debut panel for Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, along with panels for Tales of the Walking Dead, the new episodic anthology within The Walking Dead Universe debuting August 14, and Shudder’s new docu-series Queer for Fear, premiering this fall.

 

In addition to its panels, AMC Networks is returning to the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Hotel this month to transform the Skylight Terrace and Gaslamp ballroom into The Walking Dead Fan Celebration, the ultimate fan destination for The Walking Dead.

Duffer Brothers and Netflix Announce Expanded Slate Including New Stranger Things Projects

• The Duffer Brothers today announced their new production company, Upside Down Pictures, for film and television projects as part of their overall deal with Netflix. 

• Hilary Leavitt (Orphan Black, Ozark) has been hired to run the company.

• According to The Duffer Brothers, Upside Down Pictures will “aim to create the kind of stories that inspired the Duffers growing up - stories that take place at that beautiful crossroads where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, where big spectacle co-exists with intimate character work, where heart wins out over cynicism.”

• The Duffer Brothers and Netflix also announced their growing slate of projects in active development:

• An all-new live-action television adaptation of the renowned Japanese manga and anime series Death Note

• An original series from creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance)

• A series adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub‘s The Talisman alongside Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and Paramount Television to be created by Curtis Gwinn

• A new stage play set within the world and mythology of Stranger Things, produced by prolific and multi award-winning producers Sonia Friedman, Stephen Daldry (The Crown, Billy Elliot, The Reader), and Netflix. Daldry will also direct. 21 Laps serves as Associate Producer. 

• A live-action Stranger Things spin-off series based on an original idea by The Duffer Brothers, with Upside Down and 21 Laps producing.

• The Duffer Brothers most recently released the fourth season of their hit Netflix series Stranger Things, which they wrote, directed, and executive produced. Stranger Things 4 is now #1 on Netflix’s (all time) Most Popular English TV list with an astounding 1.15Bn hours viewed in its first 28 days – only the second series to cross the billion hour viewing mark, with the final tally expected to be higher as Vol. 2 reaches the 28-day viewing period. The third season released in 2019 still holds at #3. Stranger Things 4 record-breaking highlights include: 

• It was the biggest premiere weekend ever for an English-language TV show on Netflix with 286.79 Million hours viewed.

• It hit #1 on the Top 10 lists in 91 countries, a first for an English TV series
