SDCC 2025 Final Recap

Hank Hill walking around outside the King of the Hill Offsite

SDCC 2025 was just as epic as preview years. This year we focused on a lot of the offsite activation that were held all around the convention center and throughout the Gaslamp / downtown SD area. The exhibition hall is huge every year. Most companies that have exclusives have their own rules/handling of how their exclusives will be sold. All of that is usually announced through their socials or website. The big ones that attracts the biggest fan base with highly sought after exclusives were Mattel, Funko, Pop Mart, 100% Soft, UCC Distributing and more.

One of the most epic things we saw inside the exhibit hall this year was at the LEGO booth! They built SDCC, convention center and booths!!!

Below is our slideshow that we posted on our Instagram account.

SDCC 2022 Recap

Super late post but a lot of our pictures can be found on instagram. We will have a link at the end of this post so you can view our pictures from SDCC 2022.

Recap- 2022 was the first year back in full force since the pandemic. What was different this year was that we had to get a wristband that showed we were vaccinated or had a negative covid test prior to attending. We had to stand in a line to show proof to get the wristband in order to get inside the convention center. For those of us that were there for 4+ days had to wear the wristband, the wristband took a beating lol. You probably could get a new one but why waste more time in another line when there was more important things to do. Everyone was required to mask up which was good because it was just as crowded inside the exhibit hall pre-pandemic.

Exclusives? Of course there were exclusives. A lot of companies like Neca and Mattel had pre-orders to have them shipped after the show. Others, you had to enter a lotto via the comic-con portal to get a chance to get a time slot in order to purchase exclusives. Towards the later part of the day when all the groups that got their chance to purchase exclusives, anyone could get in line to buy what was left that day such as Funko, Mondo etc... Hasbro had their exclusives released differently this year where you had to go to their booth to get a QR Code to be able to purchase their exclusives. Those were gone in a flash once the exhibit hall doors opened.

Noticeably absent from SDCC this year was the massive WB Booth. Some booths that were usually in their same spots year after year moved to different parts of the floor. Funko had a huge presence and turned their huge space into Funkoville. Funko consisted of Loungefly and Mondo which they acquired a few months before SDCC. They also had huge POP! Statues of Squid Games characters.

SDCC 2018 Final Recap Part 1

SDCC 2018 went by quickly this year. There was definitely improvements. One of the best things is that they shut down the streets in front of the convention center during convention hours. It made the sidewalks less congested which was wonderful! There are still are lines to get into the exhibit hall and the convention center each day. The lottery drawings for autographs, exclusives etc... seemed to make things a bit better as well. The lines to get in were probably a tad bit longer but it also meant that people wouldn't be camping out for exclusives from companies such as Funko.

There were a lot of outside events/ experiences and there are lines for those as well. So pretty much you need to plan your days and pick your poison with what you want to do or what you want to get each day. If you're with a group and can divide and conquer that's great too. One of our favorite offsite events is going to the Conan O'Brien Show. A lot of the outside events/experiences does not require you to have a SDCC Badge but there are some that do.

Here's some of our pictures from SDCC 2018 below in our slideshow. We posted more on our instagram (handle is collectingtoyz) during SDCC so check them out.
